I’ve been using tretinoin for a little over a month now. I started very gradually, and I’m currently using it 3 times a week.

Overall, it’s been going really well. I’m already seeing improvements in my skin, and surprisingly my face isn’t dry or irritated at all.. except around my mouth and chin.

The skin in that area is constantly flaky and pills. I even stopped applying tretinoin there, but it hasn’t made a difference. I’ve also been using a thicker moisturizer around my mouth, but it’s still the same.
And especially when I wear makeup. The flakes become super obvious, and everything separates
and looks awful around my mouth and chin.

Is there anything I can do to stop the flaking, or does it just take more time?

I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and most Western moisturizers break me out, so I’ve mostly switched to Korean skincare and it’s worked great for me.

I recently started tretinoin and alternate it with Skinoren (20% azelaic acid) at night. Since then, my skin has been flaky, tight, and nothing feels moisturizing enough. I’m currently using the Purito Centella Unscented Serum and Purito Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cream, which used to be enough before starting tretinoin.

Any recommendations for a deeply moisturizing moisturizer that’s acne-friendly and suitable for sensitive skin?
