Does Bortus have another job on the ship aside from command?

Maybe he just doesn’t have another job aside from being third in command idk. What made me think of this is in an episode where Bortus tells Alara that there’s a person under his command that he can order to go on a date with her. I don’t recall which episode it was exactly. This person ended up being Dann. Now I would think Dann would be under the command of John? Since Dann works in engineering. Now maybe Bortus worded it this way because his job is just command and so everybody is technically under his command? In my mind though I interpreted it as he is in command of a subdivision of people. Like John with engineering and Alara/Tala with security. I couldn’t find anything on the wiki and I’m hoping y’all could help. Thanks.

Why are so many of the best episodes in season 1?

Doing a rewatch and just finished season one. I didn’t realize so many memorable episodes were in season one. So many of the episodes I think of when I think of the show are these episodes. To name a few: About a Girl, Majority Rule, Mad Idolatry. I could name almost every episode in the season because they all are memorable but I’ll stop there. It is such a shame this show is slept on. I tell everybody I can about this show and I’ve only ever had one person say they’ve heard of the show. They never watched it just that they’ve heard of it. I really hope all these season four rumors are true and it actually happens.

Edit: Also can we all acknowledge that the best scenes in the show are Dann in the elevator with Ed and Kelly.

Does anybody else have experience with kidney stones while on zonisamide or topiramate?

So I’m currently dealing with a huge 9mm stone. Last November I had an 8mm stone. I first had kidney stones in May of 2025 and there were two of them and they were 2 and 3mm. I’ve been on zonisamide since October 2023. Since dealing with this current stone I’ve done some research and it seems these two medications are linked with kidney stones. Both medications have ~2% chance to cause stones within 3 months to 3 years of starting the meds.

Now unfortunately, I’ve been on meds since January 2021. I have absence seizures and zonisamide is the only medication that has done something about that. I’m also on keppra and lamictal and they never did anything for my absence seizures.

I was just curious if anybody else had these kinds of issues. If so, did dietary changes solve the issue? Do I need to stop the medication? Thanks everybody.

Can a first responder force me to go the hospital if I’m post ictal?

Hi,

I’m in the US. I rarely ever have tonic clonic seizures so I don’t find myself going to the emergency room. However, I’m asking because I’d like to know for the future.

Whenever I’ve had a seizure by the time the ambulance gets to where I’m at (usually my house, once at work) I’m conscious already or I’m just starting to become conscious. They then start to do their thing. All the standard procedure and ask all the questions. However they always forced me to go the ER. Now luckily, I have great insurance so it hasn’t really affected me. I was just thinking though, I may be fresh off a seizure but I’m usually only confused for like the first minute maybe two minutes after I wake up. Since I’ve been through it so much. And I’ve made it clear to them before like hey I’m fine I don’t want to go I don’t need to go. But then they’ll always say that they have to.

It just sucks having to go all the way there just to tell the nurses at the ER that I’m checking myself out and then have to wait for a ride. Huge waste of time. Anyways that’s the end of what kind of turned into a rant but also I really appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Does anybody know if the US government regulates claims about dog food in ads?

I've tried many different ways to search this but I can't find anything specific relating to marketing. All I can find on the FDA and USDA websites is information pertaining to the ingredients and the processing and all that.

The reason I'm asking is because on Peacock I've started getting these ridiculous ads for Gentle Giant dog food. One claim in particular stood out to me which is what made me curious about this in the first place. They claimed that the dog had seizures but once it started eating the food it didn't have seizures anymore.

Now, as somebody with epilepsy this really angered me. Seizures aren't something that can be eliminated by a simple change of diet (unless you're talking about the keto diet but idk if that even works in dogs?) Anyways, if anybody has any knowledge regarding this stuff please let me know. Or if you could point me to some resources as well for me to find some more info.

Thanks everybody!

Do you guys know any reputable charity organizations besides the Epilepsy Foundation?

I was wondering if you guys knew of any. I’m looking for ones that actually spend the money actionably. They have a clear cut, defined way they spend it. As well as, not ones that are just some nebulous “cure for epilepsy.” You could include those and I’ll look into those, but I’d rather donate to charities that are doing stuff now.

Maybe if you guys know of ones that provide support to people with epilepsy. Something like that. Ya know, things that have a tangible effect. I hope you guys understand what I mean. Also feel free to include any epilepsy charities that you like. Thank you everybody.
