Operation Greenhouse Out of Old Windows

Old Window Greenhouse — Work in Progress
My husband and I are officially in the middle of building a greenhouse almost entirely from old/reclaimed windows and galvanized metal framing.

The plan is roughly 12’ x 15’, and we’re basically designing it around the windows we’ve been able to find. 😂 We’re using the old windows for the walls, galvanized metal for the structure, and planning an A-frame roof.

It is VERY much a work in progress, so don’t judge her yet. 😂 We’re figuring out window placement, corners, ventilation/opening windows, doors, roofing, and all the little gaps you don’t think about until you actually start putting one together.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has built something similar.

I’ll add progress pictures as we go!

18M wants to marry 18F after only 5 months — am I wrong to be concerned?

My son (18M) has been dating his girlfriend (18F) for about 5 months. He recently proposed, and they’re now talking about getting married.

I’m struggling with this. I’m not saying she’s a bad person, and I’m not saying they don’t genuinely care about each other. But 18 years old and only 5 months into a relationship feels incredibly young and incredibly fast to me.

At 18, so much can change over the next few years—education, careers, finances, friendships, priorities, and even what you want out of life. They’ve only been together 5 months, and they haven’t had much time to experience the challenges that come with a long-term relationship. He still lives at home with me. Just recently got a job that will barely cover rent on his own. Did not finish high school. My first thought was, is she pregnant. But, stated she wasn’t.

At the same time, I don’t want to push so hard that I end up damaging my relationship with my son or make him feel like he has to choose between his family and his girlfriend. I am just worried.

Would you try to talk him out of marriage? Encourage them to slow down without outright opposing the relationship? Or stay out of it and let two 18-year-olds make their own decisions? I personally think if he thinks he is grown enough to get married, he should be living on his own and paying his own bills. Their timeline to get married is April of next year.

TL;DR: My 18M son wants to marry his 18F girlfriend after only 5 months together. I believe their love may be genuine, but I think 18 is young and 5 months isn’t enough time to know someone well enough for a lifelong commitment. I want to support him without pushing him away.
