My boyfriend (28M) has been voice recording without my (F26) knowledge
**TL;DR;
Recently, I started noticing the way my boyfriend would hold his phone around me. Eventually, though, I became genuinely suspicious because the way he was holding his phone seemed deliberate. It no longer felt like he was joking. I really don't know what his intention would be, either. The recordings aren't sexual or anything that I could imagine being used for blackmail, which makes the whole thing even more confusing.
The way I actually found out was incredibly strange. One day, he took out his phone and randomly started showing me some of the recordings. From what I could see, he had apparently recorded several of his friends as well.
One of the recordings was of one of his friends talking about something bad that another friend had apparently done at university. That made me wonder whether secretly recording people is something he does regularly, rather than something specifically directed at me although in one of the recordings we are arguing badly which was from 2 years ago. (I knew this recording had taken place)
I still don't really understand why he would be doing it, though, especially when he had previously acted like I was imagining things whenever I brought it up.
Why would someone record people?
