I still think this is one of the best scenes in Kakeguru

It starts with Rock, Paper, Scissors and somehow turns into one of the craziest gambling scenes in the anime.

For most people at the table it's about power. Winning means status, respect and staying on top. Losing can ruin your entire life at that school.

Then there's Yumeko.

She doesn't really care about the money or the status. She wants the game to become more dangerous. The higher the stakes get, the more alive she feels.

And when her poker face turns into that smile... you realize everyone else is trying to survive.

She's just having fun.

Your $20 Bets vs. Their Bet: The Atmosphere

People argue over $20.

Some people gamble hundreds.

Meanwhile, these two are casually removing things from existence during a word game.

Objects.

The stars.

The atmosphere itself.

And somehow the craziest part isn't the stakes.

It's how calm they both remain while the entire world changes around them.

If you haven't watched No Game No Life, I highly recommend it.

This isn't an anime about money.

Sometimes the stakes are kingdoms, entire races, or even countries.

Some anime have fights.

No Game No Life turns confidence, strategy, and nerves of steel into the real battle.

Kirari Momobami isn't just a gambler

She's the kind of player who makes you question every decision you make at the table.

She has an incredible poker face, but that's only part of it.

The way she talks, the way she reacts, the way she controls the atmosphere around her — everything feels intentional.

You never really know whether she's bluffing, manipulating you, or already knows exactly what you're going to do next.

That's what makes her dangerous.

Not the cards.

Not the money.

The person sitting across from you.

I'd love to sit down and play a game of poker against Kirari.

I'd just be absolutely terrified the entire time.

Hot take:

Hunter x Hunter might be a better gambling anime than most gambling anime

Almost every major arc is built around risk, mind games, bluffing, strategy, and all-or-nothing decisions

And somehow people still don't talk enough about the Greed Island cards

Those things deserved way more popularity than they got

What am I missing?

Dragon Quest XI might not be a gambling game, but it does have a fully featured casino, and honestly, it's way more addictive than it should be.

You can play slot machines, poker, bet casino tokens, and win rare items that are actually worth chasing. A lot of players end up spending way more time in the casino than they originally planned.

At this point, casinos are basically a JRPG tradition, and Dragon Quest XI does a pretty good job of reminding you why

Tomodachi Game

Tomodachi Game starts as some debt problem between friends and then just goes completely off the rails.

What I liked about it is that you never really know who's lying, who's getting played, or who's secretly controlling everything. Every few episodes you think you figured it out and then nope, another twist.

It's basically a bunch of mind games, betrayals, manipulation and people doing some really messed up stuff for money.

If you liked Kaiji, Kakegurui or any anime with psychological games, this one is worth a watch.

Logan Paul eventually moved from the Pokémon world into the One Piece collecting community

Investing in rare manga editions and sealed TCG booster boxes. That caused prices to skyrocket and sparked a pretty mixed reaction from fans

How did nobody in Kakegurui realize Yumeko was a problem immediately

If I saw someone smiling like Yumeko before a gambling match I’m leaving immediately

Why does every gambling anime character look sleep deprived

At some point gambling anime stop feeling like games and start feeling like watching people slowly destroy their mental health

I thought Legendary Gambler Tetsuya was gonna be boring and then I watched 6 episodes in one night

I ignored this anime for so long because the art looked old

Now I’m sitting here watching grown men gamble over mahjong tiles at 3am like it’s the most important thing in the world

Which gambling anime had the most stressful mind games?

For me it’s still Kaiji

Some scenes genuinely feel exhausting to watch because every tiny decision turns into panic and overthinking

What gambling anime stressed you out the most?
