Kobo vs Kindle

So for years I've collected physical books (light novels and more) but I've realized I need to downsize snd start going digital. The way I was headed just wasn't realistic for me anymore.

So im struggling (a bit over-obsessively) on whether to go kindle or kobo. The idea of kindle and its DRM (buying a license only essentially?) puts me off. But I hear kobo is the same unless you use certain means to rip off the DRM.

I also hear I can get digital books from multiple sources and read them on kobo where as kindle is kindle snd only kindle.

I don't know. Im probably being stupid about this. Any tips or advice to help me choose.
