I got .1 perm!

It's completely surreal! It just all feels like a dream to me, I am still in shock to be honest. For context, I graduated back in June of 2025, I had a couple of perm interviews here and there, so I didn't think much of this one. However, this afternoon, I got the call, and I just was blown away!

I'm also in DPCDSB, I'm not sure if this makes any difference or if this was a factor, but I did everything and anything to make myself hire able. I legit took 9 AQs since graduating. I was told from my other teachers from previous LTOS, that the principal who interviewed me, contacted their principal as well for reference.

The interview portion was relatively straightforward. One question on what type of educator and my philosophy, one on differentiating for students with diverse needs, another on faith formation and another of school curriculars.

I legit left that interview with no expectations, so I was surprised they reached back. It has been the most busy and the most emotional Monday, that's for sure!

Teachable Inquiry

Hello everyone! For any high school teachers out there, I was wondering, is it true by only having Senior in a subject, by default, you can do Intermediate as well?

I'm asking because I've heard yes and no. People are telling me you need both Intermediate and Senior, and some people saying if you have Senior only, you can teach Intermediate as well. Also is it better for hireabilty purposes to have both?

Here is my current teachables for reference:
I/S Drama
S General Social Science
S Family Studies
S FNMI Studies

Any help is super appreciative!

Advice on Teachables!

Hi everyone!

I’m looking to expand my teachables in secondary! I currently have:

I/S Drama
S General Social Science
S Family Studies
Also I have my ESL, Spec ed, and Religion in Catholic Schools pt1 (From what I was told, having these, I can be qualified to teach in these roles for my board)

Is it better to have another Intermediate qualification or should I just stick to getting senior? I’m interested in pursuing Senior FNMI Studies, but not sure if Intermediate would be more appropriate? What do you think?

New Teacher Librarian Here!

Hi everyone! I have a full year position as a Teacher Librarian, it’s my first time in this role and feeling slightly overwhelmed. It’s a very big space and I wasn’t given much direction. I was hoping for some insight and some guidance, what do you really do at the beginning of the year? How do you structure your TL blocks? Any help is kindly appreciated!

Much thanks!

Question on teachables

Hi everyone! I’m I/S certified and was looking to expand my teachables.

I’m interested in family studies and First Nation Metis and Inuit studies. Is it beneficial to go for Intermediate rather than Senior/ vice versa or should I take both?

Question about secondary arts

Hi everyone! I’m currently PJIS certified. My current teachables are intermediate and senior Dramatic Arts and senior General Social Sciences.

I also have my Dance and Visual Arts Part 1. Would having just the AQs be enough to qualify to teach this in secondary?

Question about Indigenous AQs

Hi everyone! I have both my FNMI peoples part 1 and 2 and was hoping to expand my teachables for the secondary panel.
I’m primary/junior initially but I have my lntermediate/ Senior Drama as well as my Senior General Social Sciences.

Would I need to take the FNMI Internediate/Senior teachable to teach any N coded course or would my FNMI peoples AQs suffice? I’m really passionate about Indigenous education and was hoping to see if what I have would be enough.

I appreciate all the help in advance!
