Still redecorating...

A few days later I'm still piecing it all together. A few districts are still in pieces in the south and eastern parts of the map, but for the most part I'm done. Really enjoying how it all came together this time. Every time I do this it's a better version than the last!!

Restarting Ponyville

I was inspired to restart my Ponyville. I've been putting it off for awhile since it seems like I've been getting a lot of buildings at a quick pace. Starting with a downtown/manehattan area. This is what I've got so far.

G1 Collection Reward: Where's Megan?

Megan may have been before your time, but she was the human friend of the G1 ponies and was often the difference between losing and success (kind of like the Twilight of G1 but human). She found her way into Equestria Girls but not Magic Princess :( Who else thinks Megan should have been the collection reward?

Magic Princess 13.5 Years of Fun

I honestly had no idea that my post "Greed-loft"? I don't think so yesterday would get so many responses. It's honestly more than I want to keep up with so I'm not going to respond individually, but instead make a couple more points and try to respond to some of the comments whose "spirit" was repeated.

  • More than a little pony crazy I've been following MLP since G1 and the smooze. I in all seriousness considered training myself to refurbish/collect/resell MLP merchandise, but due to heavy pushback from my family I do NOT have an entire room in my house dedicated to MLP. So yes if you want to call me a little obsessed (or insane) I wouldn't argue, but MLP: Magic Princess keeps the MLP brand alive for me. If you do some research into why I might be such a Brony psychology points to needing/wanting more wholesome, straight forward, easy, and good things in my life. I'll take that. I've been a gamer just as long (since Super Mario NES) but we'll keep this about Magic Princess. For me I would rather play this game and no other. I don't own a console. I'm not buying multiple new off shelf titles every month. I'm not buying big pricey titles on Steam.... $400 for the amount I get out of this game (both in entertainment and psychologically) is worth it to me. Keep in mind I'm an extreme case of fan.
  • 13 years 7 months is a VERY long time for a mobile game. Most games last 1-3 years with 87% pulling the plug by the 3rd year. I've played and invested in some of those games. I'm surprised (and very glad) that this game is still going with such a limited budget. That's something to celebrate and be thankful for.
  • A LOT OF YOU... seem to be upset with the ideas behind capitalism and corporations. Don't turn my statement into something it wasn't so let's not turn this into a conversation about what the world should be and instead focus on what it is. Gameloft is BARELY worth a billion dollars and that's just by a hair by the most generous approximations. To quote an interesting source during my brief sojourn through mobile related date "industry data indicates ______ is a "unicorn" company worth billions of dollars"- Games One. So just to be clear some companies in this industry are worth so much that they aren't valued as a number but instead use a word like "unicorn" in place of it. I can't make this stuff up folks.
  • Engagement is what an individual chooses to participate in. Your level of participation doesn't necessarily reflect my level of participation in MLP Magic Princess. I can remain engaged in this game for hours while I watch FiM on another screen. One major contributing factor is I believe decorating. I've always enjoyed decorating towns/cities in any game I play no matter how flushed out the experience is. In Magic Princess the amount of time you can spend decorating is ENORMOUS. Maybe you're someone who doesn't enjoy decorating? If you only buy ponies to compete in challenges and complain about "having to log in often" then you're probably someone who see less value in this game than I do. When I'm moving my towns around, choosing decorations, laying roads and then redoing it all over again I'm not only getting tons of value but I might as well be a kid again playing with MLP figures. I'm just doing it online with a better collection of ponies I could have ever dreamed of. Just because it's content that you're not interested in doesn't mean it isn't content that Gameloft provides. This game is 90% an online dollhouse in my opinion.
  • People Lose Saves and I get it. Anytime I've ever posted a complaint or a suggestion someone always brings this up. It's awful and I don't condone it. Yes they need to get their stuff together I completely agree. As I've stated any times I would start a one man war against Austrailia if it happens to me, but until it does I can only experience my own perspective which is someone who hasn't lost their save file.

Now to put it all together... I'm really not trying to argue with anyone. I just thought this community could benefit from hearing a different point of view (I know how that sounds). Same as my post "Good Customer Service: It Could Happen to You" which I also posted yesterday. I just feel this thread has a lot of negative in it. In a world of Titans Gameloft isn't the giant some of you think they are. Corporations come in all shapes and sizes with a side of greed. Increase profit, decrease spending, screw the little man... Welcome to being a human being in the year 2026. To say it again Gameloft isn't worth as much as some of you believe they are. This smaller company has taken one of the very magical things from my childhood and kept it alive for 13.5 years in a very competitive market. That's something not even Netflix could do. In fact G5 was the shortest running generation of MLP ever. I just think it wouldn't hurt to show a little appreciation. Fostering mistrust is only going to hurt the already slim player base which is something all of us want to avoid. I just wanted to give some credit where I thought it was due.

"Greed-loft"? I don't think so...

I see the term "greedloft" used pretty often on here so I thought I'd offer some comparisons.

  1. There is a whole world of mobile games out there and development companies. Magic Princess is an online toybox (character collection) and town builder. I do admit the events are P2W but that's the case for any/all mobile games so that's a wash.
  2. In war games people can and do spend tens of thousands on building speed ups, training speed ups, exclusive skins etc etc. They're referred to as "krakens". In games like "Evo Online" people could, and did, spend upwards of ten grand to build a space ship just to lose it all in a war. In massive wars tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise just evaporate into nothing.
  3. In gacha games some people spend thousands monthly. Imagine if you couldn't buy a "What's Hot Collection" and you could only get it through balloon pop BUT you had to buy tickets, you could only pop one balloon, the amount of balloons would be increased to ten, and ponies would be available for a limited time. It would cost hundreds of dollars to complete a "What's Hot Collection".
  4. I do spend about 400 USD a month and that's not enough to buy every event pony, "What's Hot Collection" and the gem shop every month. It's enough to buy 4 "What's Hot Collections", half the event helpers (still rank to get pony), the gem shop, and the Piggy Bank monthly. If I had to guess I'd say buying everything (including the piggy bank which many would argue against) costs $550 a month. That's what would be considered a "dolphin" for most mobile games that I've played.

I get it. Being F2P it probably doesn't feel great watching 50 ponies pass you by every month or trying really hard just to get the 2nd highest event reward BUT someone needs to pay to keep the game going. That's just how mobile games work. This is the only game I've ever played that has a ceiling of 550 USD a month (buying gems beyond the piggy bank is definitely just a waste). I've played some games that release 550 USD worth of daily packs.... Just a few things to think on.

Good Customer Support: It Can Happen to You

Just wanted to share a positive Customer Service report. Three issues in three days. I heard from Emelia in three different emails. One to request specific screenshots, one to inform me that she was transferring me to the dev department, and one to tell me it was resolved. Totally satisfied. 5 stars.

How to get My Little Pony: Magic Princess account back without your friend code

If you're reading this and do have access to your account I advise you to take a screenshot of your friend code now and then email it to yourself (that way if your device breaks it's saved somewhere you can access later).

If you're reading this and you do NOT have access to your account OR your friend code saved don't worry you have another option. I know this to be true because I've done it myself.

If you're using android/google then you will get a receipt detailing your purchases for the month.

  1. Open your email and type "google" into the search bar to make your life easier.

  2. Take screenshots of your MLP Magic Princess purchases.

  3. Send the receipt screenshots along with your request for help to Gameloft.

This may not be the PREFERRED method, but I wanted to make sure this info was made available. I see people say it's not possible without a friend code quite often.

Competitive Server

That's me in first! I was just wondering what ponies everyone sees when they look at the rewards. When this event started and for the first few days all my rewards were items. Then the day before yesterday "Smiley Fan" and "Silver Berry" show up. I've seen this happen to other players and they were offered a pony that I couldn't see. Just wondering if that is what happened to me.

Just figured I share. Wanted to see why this pony thought she was worth $10. Turns out she comes with a really nice house that you wouldn't have unless you have the nightmare versions of the mane 6.

To the Mother of Equestria

SO first off let's not argue or try to change each others' points of view. I just want to see if I'm some kind of "Faustian" purest or if others think like I do.

Some of you may not be aware that the creator of the entire Equestria Universe, Lauren Faust, did not finish the show. She was however given credit for creating the universe all 9 seasons. If you want info on why she chose to leave ask and I'll answer below.

When Lauren left she left a large group of people who had worked together under her guidance for years. People who had access to her ideas, teachings, timelines and notes. In my opinion (most of) these people went on to be great ghost writers. While Lauren did make her feelings on there only being 2 alicorns quite clear and didn't plan for Twilight to become a Princess I chose to believe it's doesn't go against her wishes or lore directly. Perhaps Lauren would have added an alicorn by the time she got to season 6. We'll never know. As for Cadence that's one example of why she left. Hasbro dyed Celestia pink at the factory because they thought it would sell better and forced their will onto Lauren.

Some of these individuals broke off from the pack and published stories on behalf of Hasbro.

Some of these publications clearly contradict very clear rules Lauren had set out. Due to this I call the work of these people fan fiction.

My question to you fine people is do you draw a distinction between the two or is everything with a Hasbro G4 stamp on it considered canon and Equestria Lore?

Cheaters Never Prosper

Looks like the player who had well over twice the mane sample score as anyone else ended up getting banned. Glad I asked the community "what's up with this?" a few days back. His score was 224k when #2 was 111k. Just didn't seem right and I guess I was correct. #Justice

Calendar Event Starts Today

Last month there were a lot of posts in the Facebook group about this not showing up on the first day for some players. I just wanted to make a post to raise awareness that if you want to get the pony you need to get the event to pop up somehow today. Restarts maybe? I'm not terribly sure, but if you don't get it started today you won't get the pony.

How do you feel about considering "The Journal of the Two Sisters" as G4 Cannon?

The reasons I do not consider this cannon are as follows:

  1. Amy clearly states in an interview that if the show were to ever contradict her book then the show would wind but she claims this hasn't happened (untrue).

A. Lauren Faust said only two alicorns. One. Two. Equestria is her creation. Anything that does not come directly from the vision of Lauren Faust is fan fiction and if it directly conflicts with canon it should be labeled heresy.

B. If there are only two alicorns at the beginning of the show then that means no Opaline, no Skyros.

C. Starswirl was their teacher and they were so youg during their education in Canterlot that they "couldn't understand the danger of the pony of darkness or the situation their mentor was in". This directly goes against Amy's idea that they were raised in Skyros and trained by Alicorns.

D. In episodes later on Amy seems to interject ideas that support her book but defy everything Lauren had set up. For example her creative decision to add the two sisters (in adult form) on the original flag of Equestria? At this time in history the two twins didn't exist. We know that unicorns have to forfeit their magic permanently every day to control the sun and moon. Lastly, If Alicorns (pony gods) were present they are a representation of all three pony groups and would outrank all of the leaders who caused the windigos. When she tried to force her lora agenda into the show so she can reference it later in interviews it just makes more questions than answers.

E. Small point but Amy claims that luna and celestia learned their "canterlot voice" from other alicorns in Skyros. If it's a Skyros ability/concept then how did it acquire the name "canterlot voice"?

F. In interviews Amy get's sluper slippery when confronted with these questions and often says this like "I interpreted this to mean...." or "Lauren once said this and what I think she was trying to say was this." It's all super fishy and G4 fans don't care about her interpretations, speculations or hearsay related to Lauren Faust. Hasbro chased Lauren off because they wanted her to sacrifice art and vision to push sales. Amy is caught saying things that are completely untrue to push her fan fiction lore and sell her books. Both are trying to exploit the masterpiece that is Equestria.

OMG Sailor Moon Pony

This pony makes me so happy! Happy enough to forgive them for the Sailor Venus (coloring) and Sailor Moon (hair) mash up. Maybe they did it that way so they wouldn't get sued? Either way this is best pony I've earned in a long time. TIP: She is the reward for completing all the Halloween costumes
