Houdini, my little Diapherodes Gigantea seems to have had a bad moult. I'm torn on what to do.
She does seem capable of moving around, should I give her a chance and see if another moult corrects the problem?
Or would she just be suffering in pain/discomfort? Would a trip to the freezer be a kinder option?
I've never had an insect botch a moult like this before.
I thought my macleays spectre was just doing an oddly long, wet poop which would have me concerned on it's own but after looking more closely I'm worried it could be a prolapsed gut. Does anyone recognise what's happening? And if so is there anything I can do about it?
I got these two Macleays Spectre nymphs a month ago. The male (last 3 photos) has moulted since but the female (first 3 photos) hasn't moulted yet. There's an Indian Green living with them and she's moulted normally several times. They're tank is between 20 to 25 degrees Celcius and I keep the humidity above 70%. Like I said, the male and Indian Green have been moulting normally, so why won't she? She's been eating well, do females just grow slower than males? Should I be worried?
