I just got my P&C license and I’m curious where to start? What jobs are out there that accept entry level employees? What paths are the best to take? Etc etc. any advice welcome.
For context, this happened when I was about 23. Should’ve known better, didn’t know better. Good intentions, bad decisions.
My father had just bought this brand new dodge charger. Beautiful car, made him feel cool, he was obsessed, you know the deal.
Here on the east coast we had gotten a terrible snow storm. The next morning I was out shoveling our cars out of the driveway, hanging on by a thread because ya girl isn’t into two things: snow and an unwanted work out. I got this bright idea at the time that instead of using the snow brush to clean off the cars, I’d just go ahead and try to shovel it off. I start with my father’s car windshield. Everything seems fine. I’m pumped, telling myself “damn girl you’re a genius! how come no one else does this? Am I the next Einstein?”
Next I go to shovel off the hood of his car. I hear the kind of sound one definitely does not want to hear while cleaning off a car, a bit of loud scrape/scratchy noise. The kind when metal rubs metal. It was that exact moment I realized I may have f**ed up. I look at the shovel, notice it had a hard metal ice picky piece at the bottom of the shovel that apparently I didn’t know shovels could have. I thought they were all just plastic. I ditch the shovel and immediately grab the snow brush, pretend I wasn’t just doing that with said shovel and go to finish the job. I see some scrapes, pray for myself and hope for the best.
I’m an AH here 100% because I didn’t tell my father. I know, I know. The worst. He surprisingly didn’t notice for a while - I think due to the snow/ice. But one day he comes in complaining, heartbroken about scratches on his car hood. Just as I’m about to break out in a lengthy apology about how stupid I am, he comes to his own conclusion that some dang raccoons must’ve been on the hood of his car trying to get into our trash can (he always parked close to the trash cans). I let him roll with it and thanked the sweet heavens at the time, but I’ve never stopped feeling guilty. Not just for hiding from my dad, but also framing some innocent raccoons. 🦝
My cat loves to steal my jewelry and hide it. Yesterday or the day before she got ahold of my platinum engagement ring. I searched all over with my eyes but am at a loss. I purchased a metal detector and I’m just wondering if it was pointless? I’ve only seen one post about using indoors and it didn’t seem positive. Anyways, any tips or tricks before I get home and try to give it a go?
