You forget how simplistic and limited the movesets were in this generation. I get PTSD every time I see Rattatas and Raficates now because I almost lost the challenge on route 3 to the trainer with a Rattata and Ekans. The Rattata put everything in red health, the Evans had a lucky wrap miss to avoid disaster, only for the Team Rocket grunt in Mt. Moon to end mt first Nuzlocke due to it never missing and hitting nothing but cries while I was all strategy lowering it's attack and accuracy... in my second attempt (made it to Celdaon so far) a Raticate 1 hit KO's my Zubat entering Vermillion (mandatory trainer) and something else went down to a self destructinf Geodude.

I also forgot Gyarados doesn't learn any water moves until Hydro Pump and I gave Bubblebeam to a meowth lol...
