Soft lock in Eterna City Gym

Soft lock in Eterna City Gym

Technically not doing a nuzlocke, I'm just playing Platinum Kaizo blind for fun. I blacked out on the second trainer fight in the eterna city gym and i can't walk over the flower clock?? Do i just need to reset to before i started the gym battles?

Whirl Islands rules (and similar)

Do folks treat each of the whirl island caves as the same route/area for Gen 2? I'd assume yes because it's all one giant cave (I think?), but was curious what the "general" rules would say about it.

I know I can do whatever I want because it's my run, etc etc, but wanted to see what community folks thought

Pokégear in Heartgold

I was just wondering but does everyone use the pokégear in Heartgold to log catches and losses or it just me?

I use the route notes tool to keep track of things like gift pokémon, faints and even why they fainted such as what pokémon etc.

I'm curious to know how other people track their progress.

4 Mon E4&champ | Platinum HC nuzlocke

I managed to make a great team for the E4 with everything planned out so well.

I forgot to teach rockslide to Garchomp after Lucian which messed up my line and got my garchomp killed.

Could have been way cooler if i didnt forget it. Great game tho anyways.

Garchomp and gyarados are so OP in platinum.

Hopefully you also enjoyed me bringing in two other underrated mons as well

Killcount:

Garchomp - 14/26

Gyarados - 7/26

Yanmega - 5/26

Bastidon - TANK/26

Should I add him to the team?

I found him randomly on the isle of armor (I'm allowing DLC for my run for fun) and I found him randomly and accidentally while I was looking for Diglets. Should I use him? Is he good?

Tips for building lines in HC Nuzlockes?

I love nuzlocking, but I think my worst aspect is how I build lines for important fights. Currently playing through RenPlat, and I consistently have a hard time against Fantina/Aaron.

Part of it is that I can't focus well enough, but also I have a hard time visualizing the position after about ten or so turns. I feel like I end up saying "fuck it I'll steer" more often after struggling to find a good line. My strategy just ends up being find the best Pokemon I have against the AI and then pray lolololol

Any tips or advice from your experience?

Now I’ve ran this gauntlet Before and this how this run played out: https://www.reddit.com/r/nuzlocke/s/dQy2dbr7Jp and let’s say that I did not like how it played out.

So here I am revisiting this game once again, and this I can record My progress to this Community.

I didn't realize there was only one Moon Stone in Emerald...

So I guess there is only a single Moon Stone per playthrough of Emerald and it normally spawns as a ground item in Meteor Falls. Which is kinda nuts considering FR/LG have like 5. I did a randomized start and had item shuffle on as one of the randomizations. I rolled a Nidoran as a starter and I was stoked! For some reason I misremembered and thought evo stones could be bought in the Lillycove department store later in the game and I set off. I finally made it to Lillycove with a Nidorino in tow and my hopes were dashed! Somewhere randomly in the world, potentially as a hidden ground item, was a single Moon Stone. Knowing my luck, it was at the bottom of the ocean on a rock or on victory road way late in the game.

My run now became semi-dependent on finding this thing. I worked this hard and survived to this point. I was going to have a Nidoking damnit! I know where a lot of the hidden items are, but I'm not perfect. I had already found so many to no avail. For maybe the first time in my life, I started actually making use of the itemfinder. As I progressed further I got extremely lucky. I found it on route 123 coming off of Mt. Pyre between some of the annoying one-way ledge jumps. Disaster averted!

So I guess my PSA is that if you are using the universal randomizee for the older Gen games, be mindful of items that are important to your playthrough and how you can get them. It is entirely possible to get bamboozled by item shuffle.

Attempt 58 Clears Pyre Tag and Maxie 2!(Run and Bun)

My run is now through two of the toughest sections of Tate and Liza split,Pyre Tag and Maxie 2.

One of my goals for this run, along with finally winning,is to have a cleaner Maxie 2.

First up,Pyre Tag.

I picked Primarina, Ursaluna and Sneasler for this tag fight with Chelle.

Archie leads Urshifu and Hydrigon and I lead Primarina, while Chelle leads Delcatty.

Delcatty Fakes Out Shifu, and then gets one-shotted by Hydreigon's Dragon Gem boosted Dragon Pulse.

Good thing Chelle's not doing a Nuzlocke.

I one-shot Hydreigon with Moonblast.

Out comes Rotom Fridge and Chelle's Rhyperior.

Rhyperior does a lot of damage with Stone Edge, only to nearly die to Surging Strikes from Shifu.

I one-shot Shifu with Moonblast.

Dragalge comes out,as Rotom Fridge misses Blizzard.

I stay in and use Perish Song,as Dragalge kills Rhyperior with Dragon Pulse.

Chelle brings out her Mega Venusaur, which finishes off Rotom Fridge with Giga Drain.

I switch to Ursaluna as Stakataka comes out.

Ursaluna crits an Earthquake, nearly taking both out,as Venusaur takes damage from Stakataka and Dragalge.

On the next turn, Perish Song is up.

I take out Stakataka with Earthquake as Dragalge falls. So does Venusaur, but thats not my concern.

Only Mega Sharpedo is left, and when he comes out, I switch back to Primarina, easily live a Waterfall and one-shot with Moonblast.

On to Magma Hideout we go.

I only had one death before Maxie, which was losing my Salazzle to Tabitha's Mega Absol, but I enjoyed using Encore on his Snorlax to lock him into Curse, while he was poisoned by Toxic.

Now for Maxie 2,one of the hardest fights.

He leads Groudon, and I lead Maractus, who I picked up in the Safari Zone.

I'm faster due to Chlorophyll,so one Leaf Storm is enough.

Tangrowth comes out, I hit a Sucker Punch, and Maractus dies to Weather Ball.

That's fine, though, that's all I expected.

I brought out Delphox to finish it off with Overheat.

Garchomp came out next, and one-shotted me with Stone Edge.

I sent out Clefable next and put him to sleep with Lovely Kiss.

Two Moonblasts later, and Garchomp falls.

Next up, Naganadel washes away Clefable with Sludge Wave.

Three deaths for each of us.

I send out Nidoqueen, who's been with me since Wattson split.

It survives a Dragon Pulse and takes out Naganadel with Soft Sand-boosted Earthquake.

Unfortunately,Mew takes it out with Psychic Fangs, and I send out Hydreigon.

Mew can't really do much with two Flare Blitzes, and at this point I know I've won.

Two Dark Pulses take it out, leaving only Mega Houndoom.

He goes for Destiny Bond first.

I use U-turn to switch into my own Mega, Mega Camerupt .

Camerupt lives a Flamethrower, and takes it out with Earthquake.

5 deaths overall in Magma Hideout, and 12 total now.

On to Tate and Liza!

Doing A Hardcore Nuzlocke of Pokémon Black Is...An Experience

I didn't stop at Ghetsis; I took on the post-game as well. That means battling Cheren, the Elite Four, Alder, the Bianca rematch, GAME FREAK's Morimoto, and Cynthia (and if you really want to punish yourself, mandate the battles against Veterans Shaun and Julia).

Some general tips for the public; you have no idea how goated Substitute is. Excadrill used it alongside Swords Dance to sweep N and Ghetsis; Volcarona did the same with Quiver Dance to end Caitlin, Marshall, and Alder; Haxorus combined it with Dragon Dance to take a bite out of Cynthia

P.S. that Volcarona came from an Egg I got on Route 18 and hatched on Skyarrow Bridge, not the one in Relic Castle's depths. In case the Yamask confused anyone. She was loyal and powerful...right up until Spiritomb came back as Cynthia's last Pokemon and used Sucker Punch on her

Best place to grind E4 in b1/w1?

So before I start, I should mention the fact that I'm not actually doing a nuzlocke right now 😭 this is moreso just me settling an old score, as white was the first pokémon game I ever played as a kid but I never actually made it very far. I've cleared victory road, I've got a team that I want to take all the way to the champion, but they're all vastly underleveled for the Elite 4; my highest level right now is my excadril at 46, my lowest is my cofagrigus at 37 (she's a late addition), and the rest of the team ranges between 44 and 41. I've been grinding on route 9 with audinos, but the highest level I've seen for them there is 33, and that's just not cutting it when I'm pushing for 50. I considered grinding on victory road, but between the sturdy boldores, the durants I don't have a fire type for, and general lack of xp that those two give, it just doesn't seem worth it. Is there a better place to grind that I'm missing, or is this just the ugly part of gen 5 that no one likes to talk about?

Gen 5 Reflect AI

I am planning my white 2 challenge mode elite 4, and one of my lines has my preslept haxorus leading against caitlin, waking up and using swords dance. dream eater is a 75% chance to OHKO, so how likely is it for it to use reflect? also kinda unrelated but how would yall presleep a pokemon consistently?

I lost to marnie pre kabu

I lost to marnie in the hotel pre kabu. Then i realized why. The main problem of deaths i face in this game is that if you switch in a pokemon to prevent anothers death which would happen with staying in, the new pokemon is over half death already before even attacking and if it is slower id have to switch it again... How do i prevent this? This clears a whole team in an instant and could happen everywhere if the enemy pokemon is strong enough to damage over the half. When the first finally dies the spiral just goed backwards as i have to switch half death pokemon in again...

Do i have to sacrifice at this point one or more pokemon?

The obv solution would be to simply antivipate the type of attack and try to seitch something in that resists or is immune to this type. But that is sometimes not possible. Esp with darkness where i dont have a fairy, fight or even a darkness pokemon myself at this point...

But this could happen everywhere and anywhere so what is the right play in these type of situations where the attacker would be able to damage the incoming pokemon over half and therefore would require an immediate switch again...
