Is the Rufus Golden Saucer fight supposed to be fun? This isn't hard and isn't fun. Its just tedious... Just wondering what the consensus is here.

I fully throw myself into the merc meta and hire 20k ducats of mercs of 90,000 men. AI win siege on 0% as I reposition my armies. Converge 20k ducats of mercs onto the newly sieged castle after a month to replenish morale to try to relieve it. Lose all morale in the 8 days of movement within my own fucking borders and get stack wiped by their 12000 merc army. What is this game even doing right now? Am I fucking dumb or something? What can one even do when they can't play the meta the AI itself uses because you lose 100% of morale moving one tile in your own borders? I felt like I understood morale loss from movement so can someone explain this to me or is this a bug?
