Illuminated interior door handles

I've been researching people retrofitting e38 illuminated interior door handles into the e46 platform, or at least modifying e46 handles with the led element from the e38 handles. I've found a set on eBay that someone has already modified, I'll attach the link. Each handle has a red and black wire that taps into the window power supply. My question is this: Does anyone know if it would be possible to tap them into the 58G circuit to be able to dim them with the rest of the interior lighting?

Thanks y'all!

Style 68 tire suggestions

So I just got a free set of style 68 wheels, it's a staggered set. What I want to do is restore them, and use them for my winter/trail/light off-roading+camping wheels. So I've been poking around the internet trying to find tires that have a good bit of meaty tread (for an e46 anyway), and a comfortable amount of sidewall that I would be able to make work, but I'm not having any luck. If this is a ridiculous idea, or otherwise stupid, please let me know, since I don't really know anything about picking tire setups. Thank you anyways for answering my probably very silly questions, as always. (Image is my car in the background, my buddy's car in the foreground)

Edit: Also if anyone has a make/model tire they think could work for some of the things I mentioned above, please let me know!

Backlit shift knob retrofit

Okay, so I just picked up a full set of individual light birch trim for my sedan, minus the shift knob and handbrake grip. I've found a light birch shift knob online that I'm considering buying, and I'd like to try an experiment on it, if possible. My friend gave me his backlit shift knob out of his e93 M3, which I've installed into my car. My question is, does anyone know if I can remove the lighting element from the m3 knob, and install it into the light birch knob without any serious destruction or modification? I'm not sure how it works since I haven't taken the m3 knob apart, but I really like the way the backlit one looks, and I'd like to keep it and integrate it into the individual trim set I got. Thank you guys for any info you might have! (Picture is with current m3 shift knob)

Tensioner pulley too far forward

So I’m in the middle of changing my alternator, and my main drive tensioner pulley is sitting way too far out to be in line with the rest of the pulleys. What’s going on here?
Is the gap in the first picture between the pulley and the rest of the assembly normal?
I love this car but it pisses me off sometimes, but I know it’s more than likely my fault.

Wind Fairing Size

Hi everyone, I’m going to get a Yakima wind fairing to go on my roof racks, I can’t find much online in regards to the best size to get for our cars. Has anyone gotten one, and if so, what’s the best fitting size. I’ve heard either a 38 or a 40, but I wanted to get another opinion before I pull the trigger. Thanks y’all!

M3 Seat to sedan retrofit

Okay, this is gonna be an all over the place post, as I’ve got quite a few interconnecting questions I’m hoping I can get some answers to.

First off, I’m gonna be picking up a pair of power m3 seats with memory function. What I’d like to know is what is needed to swap those seats into a sedan. My car has manual front seats, so I’d like to know what is needed to wire in all the power-related functionalities of the m3 seats. As far as I was able to research, it’s my understanding that they should be able to bolt into my car with minimal modifications, if any.

Secondly, this might be more of a question for another sub, but I’d also like to know if anyone has had success in finding leather dye that’s close to oem natural brown. I’d like to dye my seats (current rears+prospective m3 seats) in the natural brown color. Going from black to light brown is going to be a challenge, so really I’d just like to know if anyone has done something similar, techniques that were used, and if the results are worth it, versus just buying a full natural brown interior.

Thanks guys for any insight you might be able to provide me with! :)

Damp Carpet

Hey guys, I’m hoping y’all might be able to help me out. I was vacuuming my car, so I took out the rubber mat on the passenger side to get the carpet. And the underside of the mat was wet, so I felt the carpet, and it is damp as well. I’m wondering if anyone else has had issues like this, and how I might be able to stop that from happening. Thanks!
