My first plein air attempt!

A bit tricky with the square canvas for this scene, but overall happy with it. I used acrylic markers, so my color options were a bit limited. I was also on a time limit!

Excited to get out there again, and next time I’m bringing my full painting setup!

Do acrylic markers count as painting? I did use a paintbrush to blend sometimes

Made with GuangNa acrylic markers! Still working on my color theory, but getting there slowly. I’ve really gotten away from using black almost ever. Doing one prompt a day to get my mind going has really been a game changer. I usually really struggle with knowing what to draw or paint. Having a starting prompt has really helped, and I’ve noticed my skills and creative ideas have really blossomed from more consistent practice.

The prompts in order:

  1. Draw a unique looking hot air balloon.
  2. Draw something that floats.
  3. Draw a small joy from yesterday.
  4. Draw something a wizard might have.
  5. Draw something that floats (I did it again lol)
  6. Draw a place you want to visit.
  7. Draw your perfect picnic setup.

They’re the daily prompts from Doodl, a little indie app where everyone get the same prompt each day. Seeing what other people think of for the prompts has really helped me get more creative as well!
