About to test Ridgid warranty: Broken vacuum handle

I went to pick this bad boy up off the ground and the handle just snapped off and lifted away, trailing the electrical wires from the battery pack with it. This has seen very little use, but I've had it for about two years. I'm still on the first back and filter.

I'm excited to see how Ridgid responds. I'd love to say the warranty submission process is easy, but their web portal form has glitched five times throughout the day today as I've tried to submit the necessary pics and info. I'll try again tomorrow and see if maybe there server is working then.

Anyone else see this type of failure before? Seems like a very poor design with the mass of the batteries incorporated into the handle and very thin screw posts to connect it all to the motor housing. It's like it was asking to snap.

Wish me luck!
