SuperErgo The Director (Metal)
Purchased this last week with some offers on Pepperfry and after trying it at a store and since the reviews are limited, I’m putting my initial reviews here:
Pricing: High (2/5)
It was cheaper on Pepperfry before the sale too and with payment offers it ended up costing me about 33.5K (Director Metal with foot rest). With Pepperfry you also get brand installation service which SuperErgo doesn’t provide if you buy directly through them, which is strange.
Delivery: 2/5
They use Delhivery so the lesser said the better. The box came with the tape opened on side of the box and one of the arms of the base was jetting out. Thankfully no structural damage and only scratches on one end.
Comfort and feel: 4/5
The chair is comfortable esp with the leg rest opened. I intended to buy it for 8-10 hours of daily WFH use but I think I’ll be spending some time on it later in the day and on weekends to read. Hope it holds up. The lumbar support is weird to begin with but you have to adjust the base slightly forward for the lumbar support to work how it’s designed to. I’m 5’10” and the neck rest can be used as neck or head rest for me depending on how I place it. The 5D armrests are also good although I think it’s more 4D than 5D (maybe I don’t know enough to use it)
The seat base is spacious for those like me who like to sit cross legged on chairs for a long time. (This is something I struggled with on my previous chair)
The button control system is also better than the lever controlled mechanisms and different than what’s available in the market.
Foot rest quality is good.
Back seems airy. Base is cushioned so not as airy I’d say.
Overall: 3.5-4/5
It’s a decent chair all in all. It takes some getting used to especially after spending 33k on it. It’s definitely over priced.
I feel if you’re inclining to spend money on the Director, the metal option is worth the upgrade otherwise go a segment lower and save 10k at least.
The foot rest function and 5D armrests must be taken if you’re spending this kind of money.
I tried just 1 more chair- The sleep company one with leg rest and that was a tad bit flimsy for my liking so I went with this. Wasn’t 100% convinced but I think I can live with it for a few years if it survives.
