What if JRR Tolkien had experienced the Gallipoli campaign? and in an alternate version of the LOTR, Rhûn and Nurn becomes more humanized and detailed.

“The East has suffered long under domination, lies, fear, and forgetfulness.”

This version of Rhûn and Nurn are filled with ruins and scavengers, while Sauron encourages historical amnesia, it's rather depressing, but maybe too modern for Tolkien's taste??
