Is it rare in US to buy car for cash?

In content from US I hear a lot of people talking about financing a car and almost never about just buying it which made me curious if that’s the reality for most of you.

For $10-20k you can have a really nice looking car with all bells and whistles and reasonable mileage and I’m wondering how many people are going this route instead of digging themselves into debt?

Probably some people prefer to put their money into other investments, but I doubt most of the population is that financially literate, correct me if I’m wrong.

For technicians - what do you do with working but cracked screens?

Asking about fully functional screens, that are just cracked.
How much of them you have weekly?
What do you do with them? Do you refurb them yourself, send to refurb shop, sell them or just toss away?

Metal phone openers

I see a lot people using metal phone openers, they even open whole phones with them, but for me on some phones they’re ok, but on others they leave scratches that are visible on both sides of covers. Are the tools that I’m using badly designed, or you just have to use plastic on some phones?

How should I know Christianity isn’t made up by false prophets?

I was raised in Christian family, basically everyone around me was a Christian, but I started loosing faith when I was around 10yo. It was internal, only based on my feelings.

We’ve all heard many times to be aware of false prophets, but how should we know Christianity isn’t built by them? There’s clearly many of them inside the church.

Many priests, bishops etc. are living lavish lifestyles, driving luxury cars and so on. Of course most of them have moderate wealth, but still their only job is to „preach the word of God”.

Church wealth is exempt from taxes, it’s also deeply rooted in our culture that priest are paid fees for things like a prayer for a dead person during mass, baptism, marriage, and often those fees are disproportionate to average wages in my country (they’re often way higher). Head of neighborhood parish even had gut to make official price list for those „blessings”.

Given all that how should I know church isn’t just pyramid scheme and massive fraud? How can I be sure that those who preach that „living away from god will bring me eternal damnation” aren’t just protecting their business?

It’s hard for me to believe that the same god who created us loves us, demands our worship, and those who never felt his presence, therefore never turned to him will be damned forever. He can’t be this selfish and sadistic.

Storage doesn't add up

I've been trying to free up some space, but I noticed that storage totals don't add up completely. From what I see in finder, the total size of all files is 137 GB while disk utility says that 200 GB is used.

Any ideas where to search for this mystical 63 GB?

Is it common in America to be shamed for having something „outdated”?

I’ve been reading a thread about inexpensive dirt bikes, and one guy wrote, „you’ll get sh!t on for not having an e-start” and it struck me. I know most people aren’t like that, but still, in some communities I’ve seen a lot of people put more emphasis on things they have, rather than their skills.

IMO water test is a bad advice

Internet is flooded with people saying to perform water test before adding oil, no matter what you wanna cook, but in my experience it’s terrible advice.
Whenever I was cooking anything else than beef I felt like pan was already too hot when water was dancing on it.
Also I could never use olive oil because of reaching smoke point and ruining its taste.
Whenever I was cooking eggs it just didn’t work unless they were swimming in oil, which together with bad texture from high temp was making them gross.

What I do is just add oil when pan is slightly hot and wait for it to start showing some waves, slightly wavy is good for eggs and fish, a bit more for chicken, and ofc even more for steaks.

Hopefully I’ll save some people frustration.
Let me know what’s your take on that, you can also comment on my writing bc English isn’t my first language and there’s always room for improvement :)
