My recent stays at Hyatts across China

Just finished a 4 week trip across China, Macau, and Taiwan staying exclusively at Hyatts with points. As a Globalist, I was upgraded to a suite at every single property. Asia truly knows how to treat loyalists well. The points value here is unbeatable, especially in China. The breakfast buffets alone are worth the stay, and Andaz Macau is next level. Here’s my quick take on each property:

Hyatt Centric Hong Kong – 8,000 points. 4 out of 5. Location is a bit away from the main tourist zones but easy via taxi or subway. The suite felt like two modified standard rooms — small but well-designed and comfortable, with a fantastic Victoria Harbour view.

Andaz Macau – 12,000 points. 5 out of 5. One of the nicest suites I’ve ever stayed in. Outstanding design, finishes, and an absolutely spectacular breakfast, best I’ve ever had. Location is perfect right next to Galaxy Macau. Andaz guests get access to the massive Galaxy wave pool and lazy river complex, Asia’s largest. I’d return to Macau just for the pool.

Grand Hyatt Chengdu – 5,000 points. 3 out of 5. Suite was large but quite outdated and in need of a refresh. Great central location next to Chunxi Road, very walkable to shopping and food. Service was excellent though; Chengdu hospitality is top-tier.

Hyatt Centric Chengdu – 7,500 points. 5 out of 5. My new favorite Hyatt property overall. Brand new, fresh, and immaculate. The suite was exactly my style — my all-time favorite hotel room. Staff were the best I’ve experienced anywhere. Location is convenient without being in the chaotic city center. Highly recommend if you’re heading to Chengdu.

Hyatt Regency Chongqing Metropolitan – 5,000 points. 2.5 out of 5. Perfect if you want to be in the old town area, walkable to all the viral tourist spots. Suite was large but not very comfortable, with a tiny bathroom. The hotel feels older and had unpleasant sewer and smoke smells in some areas. Staff were noticeably less friendly, and breakfast and lounge were underwhelming. I checked out after one night and moved to the Conrad instead.

Park Hyatt Shenzhen – 20,000 points. 5 out of 5. Posh, stylish, and perfectly located in the heart of the city near great shopping and dining. High-floor suites offer sweeping city views. Elegant design with three bathrooms and unlimited VOS water. Breakfast was excellent, both à la carte and buffet.

Grand Hyatt Taipei – 17,000 points. 4.5 out of 5. Much better than the mixed reviews I’d heard. Suite felt freshly refreshed, no musty smell, and the breakfast buffet was enormous, almost too big. Excellent location right by Taipei 101 and multiple malls. Service was professional but a bit slow and hit-or-miss. There is a new Centric opening this summer along with the new Park and Andaz next year so super excited to have more options soon in Taipei.!

I’m happy to answer any questions.
