The price of maintaining the perfect group dynamic

One thing I really appreciate about the anime is how it handles the popular kid dynamic. In most shows, being part of the elite clique is just a status symbol. Here, it feels like constant emotional work. Everyone in Saku's circle seems to be hyper-aware of the group balance, to the point where they constantly mask their actual insecurities just to keep the peace. It makes the group feel incredibly real but also slightly tragic. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the group harmony is sustainable in the long run?
