Cont. UCSD VS UCSB for finance

From all the responses. It looks like UCSD is definitely the favorite. Like the replies said it isn't known for bus/finance. Would it be better to apply to Indiana, Penn State, Rutgers, etc. I could also apply to another school for the spring semester, I would have alumni status at SDSU, Pepperdine, and LMU. I have the money for it and it may set me up better for my future. The schools I got into are UCSD, UCSB, UCD, UCM, UCR. I got denied from UCI and UCB, waitlisted UCLA, and waiting on USC. I have a 4.0 in bus admin 2.0 at GWC (community college) and was a previous comp sci major. Let me know what you guys think.

UCSD VS UCSB

I did an earlier post about where it would be the best to transfer for as a business econ/finice major. I got some responses but most were not based on the facts.

For example, I couldn't find solid stats but MBA's at Rady(UCSD bus school) job placement rate was 72% after 3 months. Another stat said that 30.40% of the full time program are employed. Bus Econ does not count for full time Rady but that is a concerning stat concerning because the entire school has a 90% job placement rate after 1 year. For UCD and UCSB there was basically no individual stats but for the schools it is around 90% after 6 months.

I'm not a very outgoing person but I was on the football team in high school but my teammates thought I was a nerd. I didn't get good grades in high school and now I have a 4.0 and was hoping to keep that up. I want to make sure I'm the most prepared for my future. I was looking into exams like the CFA, CPA, and CMA. Honestly it looks like I should probably join a frat wherever I decide to go and clubs to try and get the best outcome, but for ucsd they look limited in their opportunities. I might have to create my own club/frat to try to get the best opportunity and at that point I might as well try to build a startup because ucsd gets 14 billion in funding for startups.

Maybe I'm thinking too much about it but I want to make sure I can get a solid job that I will not hate. I wouldn't mind doing accounting but the pay for the work isn't justified and I would be happier doing finance and making more. UCSD also has a lot of analytical classes in their major which would help me get high paying jobs like investment banking rather than corporate roles. Another possibility is taking a quarter then transferring to another school like sdsu, pepperdine, or loyola and using my alumni status. It also feels like those schools are meant for people to fit directly into a job. My friends feel like they know exactly where they decided to go and maybe I am making a bigger deal of it. My parents also told me to stop looking at stats and called them "bs". I know I put a lot in this and I probably could have put more but it's cool if you don't read it all. I appreciate anything that will help my decision feel lighter. Thanks.

I got accepted into UCSD (Business Economics, Seventh College), UCSB (Pre-Economics & Accounting), and UCD (Managerial Economics). I was also accepted into the other UC’s with some scholarships except UCB, UCI, and I got waitlisted at UCLA. I am also waiting on USC.

My parents want me to go to UCSD, but I would have to take Calc 3 and I’ve seen mixed opinions online - some people say they can't get a job or just don't like the school and actually prefer SDSU. On the other hand, my dad went to SDSU for his master’s and said the opposite about UCSD.

I’m also considering UCSB because I’ve heard their accounting major gets attention from the Big 4. I don't want to stay in the Big 4 long term, but I know it can lead to other opportunities. I am not saying UCSD doesn't get attention from the Big 4 but it would probably be harder. UC Davis is also an option, but it didn't sound as good.

I did see a recent Forbes article put UCSD at #20 for best colleges in America, which makes me feel more confident about it.

At the end of the day, I just want to choose the school that gives me the best chance of getting a good job. I know internships and networking matter a lot, but I’d still appreciate any advice or personal experiences with these schools/programs.
