What if they went with the book ending in the show?

While I do love the fairytale ending we got in the show with the romantic cinematic ballroom dancing scene with Sophie and Benedict, her being seen as a Penwood/Gun (because our Sophie girl deserves EVERYTHING!)the public proposal as well as the gazebo scene under the stars (full circle moment since the masquerade). Then their super sweet wedding scene with all their favorite people. I do wish maybe to have seen a realistic non traditional romantic ending. I would have loved to see the book ending where they decided to live outside society. Their love story still being romantic but a different way from the other couples. To rebel against the norm since that was Benedict’s way of things. And to show how much Benedict loved Sophie that he was willing to give up things in order for them to be together.

I have this vision of one of the final scenes being the Queen still had her ball for Lady Danbury but Benedict and Sophie had run off to “Our” Cottage(hehe). (Obviously having already blackmailed and settled things with Araminta like in the book) At the ball they still showed the “Night We Met” waltz but I thought it would look cinematic seeing them switch back and forth from the ball dance to Benedict and Sophie dancing with each other in their cottage looks in the Cottage gardens under the stars. And maybe end with Benedict proposing under the stars. I thought this would also have been a sweet ending. I would miss the lovely wedding scene we got in the show or it might have even been a smaller more hidden secret wedding for them with some of the Bridgeton family sneaking off to Our Cottage to see them wed.

Anyone else thought about this? Or other scene ideas they could have done to make it similar to the books ending.

If Sophie revealed herself sooner

I’m curious how things would have played out had TV show Sophie revealed herself as the Lady in Silver sooner to TV show Benedict?

Like if she had told him when he was at Penwood House when he went to talk with Posey? How do you think he would have reacted? I feel he would have reacted very shocked/surprised and his fantasy bubble of the LIS would have popped because she was not a lady but a maid. Would he have still tried to get to know her or pursue her as a maid or would the shock have killed the fantasy for him?

Or what if she had revealed herself when he saved her at Cavender’s house? Like after he asked if she was sure they hadn’t met before and then she reveals it then?

Are there any fan fictions out there that explore this type of storyline for them? 😃
