  • Estimate average monthly spend in the categories below.
    • Dining $: 491, including a lot of DoorDash and takeout
    • Groceries $: 38
    • Gas $: 0. I don't buy gas; BofA classifies some small 7-Eleven purchases as fuel.

PURPOSE

  • Purpose of next card: Cashback
  • Cards being considered: I'm very new to credit-card rewards and don't know if I need another card. I pay my statement balance in full and don't carry debt. My BofA card is currently set to online shopping, and I can change its choice category monthly. From my initial online research and using ChatGPT to learn the basics, I'm considering the Capital One Savor for dining while keeping BofA on online shopping, the Wells Fargo Autograph for transit and travel, and the Amex Gold if I'd use enough of its benefits to justify the annual fee. I prefer cash back, but I'm open to a fee if the benefits I'd actually use outweigh it. Travel is irregular. Would any of these meaningfully complement my current card, or should I just optimize the BofA category I already have?

Honestly, I'm a beginner and don't really know what I'm doing with credit cards. I got this card because I was told building credit was a good idea, and since then I've just used it for everyday purchases in the U.S. and paid it off. I'm not sure whether another card would actually help or whether I should use my current one differently. I'd like straightforward advice on how to improve my setup and earn more cash back without making it complicated. I'd consider a card with an annual fee if I'd genuinely use the benefits, but I'm unsure whether travel rewards make sense for me since my travel is irregular.
