Both my first long trip and first rally under my belt!

Went to the Datil NM rally this previous weekend. It was a blast! There was food, camping, coffee, breakfast, prizes, and Guzzi experts with DECADES of varied experience. What a cool community!! I really enjoyed connecting, even if it takes me a day or so to come out of my shell.

I previously posted my day one adventure results, and this is just a quick update and recap now that im home:

*front brakes: I am more convinced than ever that there is an issue. The front brake pulses at lower speeds - but it is sometimes pretty extreme. A defective carrier bobbin makes sense, as I have heard that is a *potential* issue with these dual brembo rotors on the 2025+ V7 sport. There are not enough cases to confirm, but we will see what the dealer says.

*speed: Okay, I am glad I took this trip. Yes, not having a fairing nor a windscreen really makes high speed riding a bit more intense. However, having the 26+ hours of saddle time to really tune in on the bike's quirks and characteristics, I can honestly say that a good chunk of my 'over 85MPH' issues were just me not being on the same page as the machine. We are good now, and I now know what she wants in the twisties!

*interstate: so even though I can handle her much better now in the wind of the interstate - people still suck, and I would rather drive an extra 100 miles on two-lane roads and highways to avoid them.

First leg of my first long ride completed! En rte to the Datil, NM Guzzi Rally

Today's ride was just under 400 miles, about twice as long as my previous longest ride (and that was a decade ago on a Vulcan S).

Feedback:

•The V7 Sport is definitely not a long-haul bike. But nobody buys one of these thinking 'touring bike!'

•The V-twin and driveshaft is a perfect combination for 'compression braking' on tight & steep mountain passes

•The floats on the front rotors either have a misalignment or are super susceptible to dirt. At about 200 miles in, I got a slight pulse out of the front brake. I was engine braking most of the way, so we will see how it does tomorrow. For reference, the pulse started at 1,600 miles on the clock.

Fairly certain it is the float carriers, as I dont ride the brakes at all - especially on descents - and looking at the rotors, I dont see any discoloration. Will contact Piagio when I get home.

•the Cortech tank bag and saddlebags are fantastic! I have my tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, snacks, clothes, rain gear, and even some work stuff all packed up - and they dont shift at all. Note: I had one of my guys put PPF on the tank, so the tank bag doesn't scratch it. My only issue is that my phone overheats in the pouch on the tank. But that might also be because I am running two apps to track my ride and also charging at the same time.

•did I mention the bike isn't a long-haul bike? I would really like to see a slightly longer handlebar option - but maybe it's because I have a short reach.

Seriously, though - this machine is awesome! All of the little quirks that I love are even quirky-er on the long haul! Excited for the second leg of the trip - 270 miles to the campground!

Added some more character to the front - V7 Sport

I was putting PPF on the headlight and realized the 'eagle' running light is a separate piece. Yup - that needs to be smoked. So we put optically clear PPF on the top and bottom lenses, and then a moderately tinted PPF on the running light. Looks great!

Tried a darker PPF on the signals. While I like it, the material doesn't wrap around corners as well, and is already peeling from the edges. I'll probably go to the lighter smoked material on that when I get some more 'play time'.

Spotted in the Wild!

Hope this is okay!

Spotted this very nice V7 Stone at my Italian grandmother's favorite Italian restaurant in Englewood, CO, on her 90th birthday.
