How true is this or highly exaggerated?
I think The comparisons are highly highly exaggerated as someone who is from SoCal and half Mexican.
This content has been thrown around everywhere for years and gets viral quick. Average Filipinos these days think we’re the same as Mexicans. Had many Filipino co workers from the Philippines say stuff like “Were more Mexican than asian” or “we look more like Mexicans than Asians” (have they ever seen South East Asians) “ were genetically more Mexican than Asian”
Dont get me wrong there are a few similarities but overall Filipino culture is very very different and nothing at all similar to Mexican culture. I was raised in Southern California and half Mexican/Filipino been to Mexico also. The Mexican culture I know is not similar to Filipino culture in the slightest. If anything it’s obviously far more similar culturally to south east Asian countries like Indonesia. Did they suddenly forget about South East Asia? Even just watching Filipino TV it looks and sounds extremely Asian. Turn on the TV in Indonesian and Malaysia, Thailand , Brunei, it’s sooo damn similar to Filipino media
Only Filipinos in California can see through this BS as we know Mexicans and Mexican culture as we actually mingle and deal with them on a daily basis and it’s nothing like what all this viral content is spreading
