Hey guys, I've been checking out different posts about the positives and negatives of Enterprise as an MT, and I'm now a year in struggling to see any potential for my growth in the business.
For some backstory: I worked at the largest HC branch in my area, with the normal insurance deals and retail deals. I was there for around 10 months of my time with the company and I did not make the matrix a single time in my stint in the HC location, to the point where they transferred me to the AP for these last 2 months leading into my year anniversary. I have made a total of 1 matrix in the last 12 months, first month at the AP made it but second month not so much. ESQI is 88+ on average, and i know where I'm lacking is on the TAR and sales side of things.
I've brought this up to both my BRM and my AM, the BRM was honest with me about his experience and has been trying to help me as much as he can, while also running a flagship airport. My AM on the other hand has seemingly given me the equivalent of the corporate run around. I've tried to hone my sales skills since this is a known weakness of mine, but im finding it harder and harder to keep it positive as I see another month pass without a matrix success. There has also been stagnant growth in the area, hardly any new MTs, barely any promotions available for upper management (which i dont even qualify for).
The long and short, should I keep it going with hopes that it will get better or should I just get ready to call it quits?
I booked a reservation online, got confirmation, i get there at open and they tell me they have nothing. I’ve seen the Seinfeld bit, do they really just not know how to hold the reservation?
I need helping actually finding a car to rent. Is there anything I can do to actually get a car? I’m desperate.
We’ve made two reservations a week apart and have still not gotten a car. The first time they told us a car was available at a nearby branch. Before we got there the branch called and said they have nothing.
I live in a small town so I expect some issues but when I started looking into other branches within a 50 mile radius, I see nothing but complaints that they also never have rentals available. The closest city has about 5 branches. I’d thought about trying to get an uber there to rent a car but seems somebody else had the same idea, still no cars. Someone else said they had a reservation for over a 10 months but no car when there reservation came. I’ve seen these complaints on different sites including next door neighbor. I’ve called the corporate line, branch numbers are hard to find, and tried to get some kind of definite confirmation before I spend a couple hundred dollars just to get to the nearest city and they just keep insisting that I’ll have a car or that I need to contact the branch. I can’t get any kind of guarantees. There are no other rentals agencies nearby only enterprise. I don’t blame the branch as it is a small town but this is more than just an inconvenience, I have to work and public transportation is extremely limited.
I am comparing Hertz and Enterprise for renting the same car from Tromso airport Norway.
8.10.2026 22:30 --- 12.10.2026 05:30
but the total costs come out to be very different. It seems:
The Hertz supercover is cheaper because it has a 2000NOK deductable, while the Enterprise zero excess has zero deductable.
Hertz seems to have no international driving charges (I plan to drive into Finland and Sweden, but return again at the origin Tromso airport), while Enterprise charges 1000.
The car itself might be cheaper with Hertz.
I am wondering if this big difference in price is too good to be true. Does anyone have any experience with Hertz at Tromso airport? Note that I arrive late at 22:30 and leave early at 05:30. It is good if someone is present at 22:30 during pickup to sort out any issues.
I am a gold member with two free upgrades. My question is simple: can I use one of my
Upgrade certificates to upgrade from a Standard SUV (Chevy equinox, etc) to a Full size SUV (Jeep Wagoneer, etc)?
I booked a luxury car a month ago to pick up today. Some things have happened and I need it a little sooner than I had thought.
I called yesterday to ask if picking it up and hour or two earlier would be ok. The guy on the phone said it should be no problem and then looked at my reservation and said they don't have luxury cars and would I be ok with a Corolla. Considering the price difference, I said I would rather have what I reserved. He said he knew the local agent that handles "exotics" and that he would call me in 30 minutes.
He never did, but the exotics thing threw me. I just wanted an audi or something like it.
So I ended up booking one at another location and canceling the first one. This time I called to check after making the reservation but was connected to a general agent, not the location. She assured me they did, but I'm worried I will get there and end up in a corrola again.
Sup guys. Just thought I’d share my thoughts on enterprise and how it’s been so far.
So yea, I’ll be honest I do work a lot, but I’ve gotten lucky with my branch (smaller branch and we usually don’t stay past 6-6:30pm). I do miss going out Friday nights and not having to work the next day , although working every other Saturday is tolerable.
The work is very physical for me. Walking around all day. washing cars as an MT? That’s real. The work isn’t sexy. Some days it feels like glorified retail…
…Until I’m sitting with my branch and assistant branch manager going over financial, discussing sales, cost management, and you realize “oh, so this is more than just washing cars. It’s operations management.”
You are genuinely learning how business work from the ground up. How to run a small profitable business.
You will become decent at sales whether you like it or not, and you’ll learn to be a hard worker 😭.
You spend so much time at the counter as an MT upselling vehicles, selling protections, you start to become a machine. I can honestly see why Enterprise employees are recruited heavily by sales orgs, and even now as an MT I’m getting LinkedIn messages by companies for comparable pay for their sales divisions.
I will say after having been let go from my last job, it’s refreshing to not only make a little more, but have job security and be building a career foundation even if the work day to day can feel unglamorous.
But yea, it’s not for everybody. I’d recommend people working here as an MT right now learn as much as they can, at least get promoted a couple times, before leaving, or if you leave make sure it’s for a legitimately solid company or role with upward mobility.
It’s not anywhere near as bad as people say it is to work here but it can definitely get to you sometimes when you’re sweating , dealing with an upset customer, or working the counter,
but having met so many professionals in my city, Enterprise is still recognized as a place that develops grinders and strong sales people, especially in the city I’m in.
Every other guy or girl who’s a strong professional in corporate here has a the same line of “oh,you work for enterprise? They are a strong company. We’ve hired 7 people from them!”
Don’t take working here as a joke lmao. It can be a legitimate career foundation especially if you perform and promote! Shows you have alot of grit , and companies still value you it if you stick around longer than a year .
You are still in a Fortune 500 Management Development program. That is real and companies recognize that.
Just thought I’d share my thoughts so far. What do you guys think?
*edit. Guys I’m not encouraging people to retire at enterprise . 😭😭 the point of this post was to mention you should be good if you leverage the experience and skills you learn here. You’re not doomed if you work here a couple years and then move on to a better paying job, or make a lateral move for better work life balance. It’s a good stepping stone .
Having one rep at a counter with 10 customers waiting in line and for a car I had “reserved” and supposed to have picked up a half hour ago? Not right.
Yes you can rent a car through enterprise with restricted license, I have a f250
For Denver Airport I see that Enterprise has a Guaranteed Model option for Toyota Rav4 and I really like that vehicle. I've never done a guaranteed model before as usually i just book a midsize suv and take my chances on which vehicle i happen to get. Does Enterprise really set aside these specific models at airport locations? How likely are they to really have it? (it costs a tiny bit more to guarantee)
I booked a rental through Costco Travel, through which you’re supposed to get an extra driver for free. I’m also only 21, so I have the $25 young drivers fee for each day. I have a second driver for the car that is also 21, and I was wondering if we will also have to pay an extra $25 a day for him. I just want to make sure I understand before going to pick up the car so I don’t accidentally get roped into more fees.
I did a two week trip to Ireland and had rental insurance through rentalcover dot com, rented through Enterprise. Trip was amazing except for a small fender bender. I’ve done everything their site requires and the submit button won’t submit the claim. It stays in a page loading screen for hours. I’ve contacted their support and get an email saying they’ll get back to me in 24 hours. It’s been a month. They don’t have a phone number, all you can do is submit another complaint and get another BS email saying they’ll reach out. Don’t fall for the SCAM!
Are MT’s supposed to run branches alone with only a detailer? I’m only 3 full months in.
Hello everyone
From an Enterprise/National/Alamo manager
Please never prepay for your rental vehicle. If you return early you might not be refunded from the company you prepaid from. Also if there are any issues with your rental, it can take about a month or two to receive a check refund. Its just a hassle.
I recommend to pay at the counter, it is much easier to compensate you if anything happens or any emergencies.
So to keep it brief I got a rental, and used the toll highway. Got a charge on my card a month later. I went to Enterprise to get a receipt for that charge but they told me citations canada does it. The info they wrote on a piece of paper for me was
Number: 866-991-8916
Email: citationscanada@ehi.com
The issue is when I call that number it says it "The number you have called is not assigned". I've also tried putting a 1 in front... Does anyone have the actual number?
Hi everyone!
Hoping you can help - I was super distracted while taking details about fetching my courtesy car earlier today and now can't remember what I needed to bring.
driving licence
policy documents
???
Any ideas? I can't find any info on the enterprise UK website to confirm what's needed other than driving licence.
EDIT: I'm meeting them at opening on 20/08
It's a long story. Lost my car rental key at work and the rental is currently at the garage at my job. Will Enterprise give me a backup key? Am I on the hook for a new key? Will they need to tow the car out of the garage?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Will be renting at a city location in Chicago (not airport) and driving one way out west. I already made the one way reservation on Enterprise site.
Does Enterprise at non-airport locations allow all of their suvs that happen to be at the rental location to go one way? Or do they just give you the worst one so as to get rid of it by sending it off to another city?
