Is there a hitch knot that is better than the Taut Line Hitch to use with only one hand?

The Taut Line Hitch is quite useful, but I have found nearly impossible to use with just one hand. Is there something similar that I can just pull on the end with one hand to take up the slack?

What variety plum? Obviously not Bruce like it was supposed to be.

This is the first year my Bruce plum bore fruit, except it does not match the description. This plum is small, wine-red skin with same color flesh. Very sticky flesh is just barely sweet, with a lot of acid. Very reminescent of a prune. Freestone. Does this look familiar to anyone?

What does the Tanakh, etc, say about cooking treif for a visiting family member?

I don't belong to a shul at the moment, and so I don't have a rabbi to ask. So I am asking here.

A relative and his family (who do not keep kosher) will likely be visiting in the near future, and he is looking forward to homemade lobster rolls like I used to make at a time when I was not keeping kosher so much. He knows that I do not eat lobster any longer, but has the opinion of "what's the problem" as long as I don't make it for myself as well. Obviously, the cookwear would need to be kashered afterwards, but is this allowed to do? And if not in my home, can I do this outside?

What kind of spider killed my honeybee? (Maine, USA)

I was checking my beehives, and noticed that this spider was dragging one of my bees out of the hive. None of the other bees were attacking it. Should I be concerned?
