Circumstances of Discovery

On 30 June 2019, a man's body had fallen into a back garden in London's Clapham district, less than a metre away from where the homeowner was sunbathing. The man's body was reportedly 'frozen solid' and had sustained traumatic injuries, but it is unknown if he died upon impact or was already dead.

It was later determined that the man had stowed away in a wheel well of a Kenya Airways flight travelling from Nairobi to London. The plane had originated in Johannesburg, South Africa before landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya before it ultimately took off for London. It is believed the man was from Kenya, based on Kenyan currency found with the body, but authorities cannot rule out the possibility that he came from South Africa. Due to the high levels of security at the airport, it was speculated that the man may have been an employee.

In November 2019, it was reported that the body had been identified as 29-year-old Paul Manyasi, who worked as a janitor at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. However, it was later revealed that Manyasi's family was bribed into telling the media that the dead man was their son. Furthermore, there was no record of a Paul Manyasi having ever worked at the airport. The man's real name was Cedric Shivonje Isaac, and he was alive and in prison in Nairobi.

After more than three decades, the mother of a newborn baby found on Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, is now identified as Tammy Sue Kerns.

In August 1988, a full-term newborn baby boy was found in a laundry bin at Ponds Laundry in Wichita Falls, Texas. The infant had been wrapped in linens from the Air Force Regional Hospital at Sheppard Air Force Base. Investigators determined that the infant had died from hypovolemia and anemia. At the time of discovery, all known pregnant patients as well as newborn babies at the hospital and on the base were accounted for. Despite investigative efforts, the case remained unsolved for nearly 37 years.

In 2022, investigators with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) submitted tissue samples to Othram's laboratory in The Woodlands, Texas. At Othram, scientists worked to extract DNA and then used Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® to develop a comprehensive SNP profile from the evidence. This profile was used in a forensic genetic genealogy search led by Othram's forensic genetic genealogy team, which generated new investigative leads.

In May of 2025, as part of their follow-up investigation, AFOSI conducted a non-custodial interview with Tammy Sue (Gust) Kerns where she admitted that she was the infant’s mother. Kerns confirmed to investigators she concealed her pregnancy and never sought medical care. A DNA sample was collected from Tammy Kerns. A comparison of Kerns' DNA profile against the infant's DNA profile confirmed Kerns as the infant's mother.

In plea papers, Kerns admitted she went into labor while working a night shift at the hospital, hid herself in the x-ray room so that no one would see her and locked the doors to prevent others from entering. Kerns gave birth during the shift and once she delivered Infant Male Doe, she placed her hand over his mouth until he stopped crying and/or breathing. Kerns then severed the umbilical cord from Infant Male Doe and the placenta and wrapped the cord around his body. Kerns then wrapped Infant Male Doe in hospital linens and placed the deceased infant in the laundry bin, cleaned up the room and returned to her shift.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Kerns faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison, a fine up to $250,000 and a term of supervised release up to five years. Her sentencing hearing is set for Jan. 8, 2027, before Chief District Judge Reed O’Connor.

The Air Force Office of the Special Investigator conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allyson Monte from the Fort Worth Division is prosecuting the case.

Six years after he was found deceased on the front porch of a vacant Birmingham home, Willie Warren Tansil Jr. is now identified.

On July 5, 2020, an unidentified man was found deceased on the front porch of a vacant residence in Birmingham, Alabama. The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office responded and began collecting evidence and investigating. The man was found unclothed and seated in a chair on the front porch of the residence in Birmingham’s East Lake neighborhood. His body was in a state of decomposition, and investigators found no identification, or personal property nearby.

Investigators estimated the man was between 60 and 70 years old. An examination later determined that his death was the result of natural causes due to hypertensive heart disease. Although investigators were able to determine how he died, they were unable to establish his identity.

Despite continued investigative efforts, the man could not be identified and he became known as Birmingham John Doe (2020). Details of the case were entered into NamUs as UP72429.

In 2025, the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office submitted forensic evidence to Othram’s laboratory in The Woodlands, Texas. At Othram, scientists used Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® to build a comprehensive DNA profile from the provided evidence. The DNA profile was used by Othram's forensic genetic genealogy team to develop new investigative leads that were returned to investigators.

Using this new information, a follow-up investigation was conducted leading investigators to potential relatives of the man. A member of the man's family provided a reference DNA sample which was used in a comparison via Othram's KinSNP® testing. This investigation led to the positive identification of the John Doe, who is now known to be Willie Warren Tansil Jr., who was born in July of 1952.

A woman, whose remains were found in a Delaware park in 2011, is now identified as Hannah Graham Kleitz, who died in 1907.

In June 2011, partial skeletal human remains were discovered in a wooded area of Sellers Park near Wilmington, Delaware. A forensic anthropological examination determined that the remains belonged to a woman believed to be between 25 and 50 years old. Investigators learned that she had long, dark brown hair that had been arranged in a single braid. She also had distinctive gold dental restorations in her front teeth.

Case details were entered into NamUs as UP8827. The New Castle County Division of Police released a forensic facial reconstruction in hopes that someone might recognize the woman. As the investigation progressed, multiple potential identities were considered and ultimately excluded. Despite their extensive efforts, investigators were unable to determine who she was and for years, the woman was unidentified.

In 2021, the New Castle County Police Department submitted evidence to Othram’s Texas laboratory where scientists worked to extract DNA from the remains. A SNP profile was then developed using Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing®. Law enforcement used this profile in a forensic genetic genealogy search, allowing investigators to eventually identify a potential family connection.

Through this investigation, investigators now know that the woman Hannah Graham Kleitz. Kleitz died in 1907 at the age of 29 from a medical illness. Kleitz's mausoleum and grave at Riverview Cemetery was desecrated in 2002. Investigators learned that remains similar to those later discovered at Sellers Park had been removed from her grave.

More than a century after her death, and 15 years after her remains were discovered in Sellers Park, Kleitz's family was able to reunite her remains and return her to her mausoleum. The identification brought an extraordinary investigation to a close and allowed Hannah to finally be returned to her rightful resting place.

More than five decades after the partially buried remains of an unidentified woman were discovered near Desert Hot Springs, California, investigators have identified her as Rebecca Jean McMahan.

On January 19, 1974, the partially buried body of an unidentified young woman was discovered in an open desert area of Desert Hot Springs, California. Despite investigative efforts over the years, including comparisons of fingerprints and dental records, investigators were unable to establish the woman's identity. The case remained unresolved for decades. Details were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP7144.

In 2024, the Riverside County Regional Cold Case Homicide Team revisited the investigation as advances in forensic science provided new opportunities to identify unidentified victims. Skeletal samples from the victim were collected by the Riverside County Coroner's Office and submitted to Othram's laboratory in The Woodlands, Texas for advanced DNA analysis.

At Othram, scientists succefully extracted DNA from the provided remains and used Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® (FGGS™) to develop a comprehensive DNA profile for the woman. The resulting profile provided investigators with the data needed to pursue new investigative leads. A subsequent forensic genetic genealogy search was conducted by a Regional Cold Case Homicide Team genealogist, who identified a potential connection to a close relative in California.

Investigators contacted the relative, who voluntarily provided a DNA sample for comparison. The DNA comparison was conducted by the California Department of Justice's Missing and Unidentified Persons Section, establishing the victim's identity as Rebecca Jean McMahan. Rebecca was also known as "Becky McMahan" and "Becky Solis."

Rebecca was 19 years old when she disappeared. Her family reported her missing on July 3, 1973, after she was last seen on June 11, 1973, in Bell Gardens, California. Rebecca had told others that she planned to travel to Palm Springs for a vacation. Before her disappearance, she was known to have lived in Bellingham, Washington, as well as various areas in California.

Rebecca was described as a Caucasian female with long brown hair and hazel eyes. She was approximately 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed between 120 and 145 pounds. She had a tattoo bearing the initials "SS" on her ankle and a butterfly tattoo on the right side of her chest.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about Rebecca or the circumstances surrounding her death to come forward by contacting Investigator Ebony Caviness at 951-955-0257 or by email at coldcaseunit@rivcoda.org.

Woman from Lowell faked her own kidnapping to escape threatening boss

So I think this happened in the mid 80s. The woman was a blonde woman and she was around 24. She was married but the couple were discussing divorce.

The woman worked as an accountant and her boss forced her to embezzle money from the company regularly. I think the money accumulated to over 100k USD by the end.

One day, the boss threatened the woman that if she talks about the crime, he will kill her.

So out of desperation, she faked footprints in the snow, wrote a letter to her husband with the text "We got your wife" and she disappeared.

Fast forward to 2002-2004 I think when a private investigator looked into this case and found a woman in FL having the same birthday and first name as the alleged kidnapped woman. It ended up being her. I think she had to serve some prison time. The boss might have been dead by then.

I saw this on Don't Look at Me YT channel. I even remember that commenters found really funny how he pronounced the city of Lowell.

Mr. Bones / Bedford County John Doe (1958)

Date of Discovery: October 9, 1958

Location of Discovery: Bedford Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (approximately 40 02 14 -78 29 37)

Estimated Date of Death: 1 year prior

State of Remains: Not recognizable - Partial skeletal parts only

Cause of Death: Self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head

Physical Description

Estimated Age: 30-35 years old

Race: White

Sex: Male

Height: 6'2" to 6'6"

Weight: Unknown

Hair: Brown to dark brown, straight.

Eye Color: Unknown

Distinguishing Marks/Features: Robust build. Wore plastic contact lenses. Of European ancestry. Cranial vault described as being large, round and with a narrow nasal aperture.

Identifiers

Dentals: Available. Gold dental work.

Fingerprints: Not available.

DNA: Available.

Clothing & Personal Items

Clothing: From the initial 1958 report Gray wool hunting socks with red top, blue denim dungarees with a wide black leather belt, white tee shirt, white jockey type shorts, black leather motorcycle type jacket with full length zipper and slant zipper pockets, and black "engineering" boots, length 12 5/8", width of sole 4 1/2", heel 3 1/4 ", top height 10 1/2", with buckles on the outside. Numerous articles of clothing found nearby. No hat was found.

Jewelry: None located.

Additional Personal Items:

- Right corneal plastic contact lens — specifications (Rx) known

- Three books — two poetry books and one science-related book

- Extensive camping equipment, including a canteen and backpack. Most appears new, with little to no indication of use.

- Toiletries

- Black wallet containing $38

- High-powered .30-06 Springfield rifle and gun case

- Ammunition

- Brass key stamped “Active 195 Avenue A”. The key had been duplicated by Active Locksmiths, 195 Avenue A, New York, NY. However, this was a locksmith’s stamp, and the unidentified person is not associated with the property at this address.

Circumstances of Discovery

The victim's partial skeletal remains were found in an wooded area approximately 1/2 mile north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Midway Service Plazas, in Bedford, and about 85 miles east of Pittsburgh. He had died from a gunshot wound to the head, but while authorities believe the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, they don't know if it was an accident or suicide.

Investigators believe the man was well off because of the gold dental work and the contact lenses, which were unusual for the time. The contact lenses were traced to a Chicago manufacturer and fitted by an Illinois physician, but there are no records of the buyer. The books suggest the victim may have benefited from higher education, or may have been a serious student of poetry or literature.

The rifle was sold in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1939, but no further tracing of the gun's ownership could be found. The brass key hasn't been matched to any location. The dental work has yielded no matches.

While the victim appeared well-equipped for camping, investigators found no eating utensils nor food supplies.

Investigators do not believe the victim was from the Bedford area. Anecdotal information may connect this victim to the state of Kentucky: Prior to the victim's discovery, in September 1957, local police in Bedford Borough encountered a loitering man in possession of a rifle. This unidentified man said he was enroute from Kentucky to Canada.

Anthropologic examinations conducted in 1959 and again in 2003 revealed the victim to have been an adult male of European ancestry, likely between the ages of 30-35 with a living stature of about 6'4" (+/- 2").

Edit: I cannot believe this subreddit sometimes. Few days ago, this subreddit called me out (tbh fairly) that my phrasing of a man sounded like his whole identity is drug use. Okay, thats fair. But now this sub does the exact same with this man. And here, him being a nazi is not even an established fact. We should be consistent. Not always changing what we accept and what not.
