AV

I’m a 26 year old female in the UK. I’m almost 100% certain I have AV the problem has been getting a doctor or consultant to listen to me and take my symptoms seriously.

A little back story, I was sexually assaulted back in the summer of 2021, I was unfortunately diagnosed with chlamydia, BV & Thrush. I received the appropriate treatment but for some reason symptoms persisted. For the next year I had recurring BV, thrush and UTI’s I was then diagnosed with MGEN. treated retested 4 weeks later negative. BV & thrush continued. a year later I developed PID due to the same MGEN infection. I was treated again more aggressively got a negative BV & thrush went away. Found out I had GBS and that’s where all these current issues started.

started with a lot more discharge than usual, yellow/ green in colour intense burning deep inside my vagina, couldn’t sit on my bum I had to sit with my weight on my hip. had to put a hot water bottle between my thighs. started with bad pelvic pain, always worse round ovulation. symptoms went away during my period. as the months have gone on my symptoms have gotten worse. my discharge has become like snot, so much of it it’s running my clothes and underwear. it has like a chemical smell to it. all my swabs always come back negative the only thing they show is ’heavy mixed growth normal flora‘ I was struggling to find a consultant to take my symptoms seriously and to understand that this isn’t my ‘new normal’

I had my gyne appointment today with a new doctor, he actually listened and believed me which is a massive step forward. he agreed this can no longer continue and that I have no quality of life he’s promised to help me. I’ve actually left my local hospital today with treatments I normally get sent home and told it’s in my head.

I’ve been prescribed oral clindamycin 150mg to be taken nightly for 6 months alongside a vaginal oestrogen suppository to be used twice a week alongside. I’ve also been given a steroid ointment clobetasol propionate to be used as a when needed twice a week but only on the outside.

has anyone else received this kind of treatment. if so did it work for you?
