Immediate Help: I messed up badly, and it is now hurting my relationship. What to do?
Context: My girlfriend has an expensive Verizon plan from years ago. Also, her phone is dying, and we're both low-income. So she needs to get on a plan to pay overtime and can't pay for a phone up-front.
One option was Verizon with a 36-month plan, but she needed to upgrade her Verizon plan with 1100 trade-in credit. It was a bit messy because we had bad experiences coordinating with Besbuy and Verizon customer service. But factoring everything, it wasn't that much different from a US Mobile+Unlocked phone, given the trade-in (around 200-300 total cost difference in the span of 3 years).
The other one was what I suggested: get on US Mobile (and I myself have been on US Mobile for a long time) and get the 24-month plan at Best Buy. I used the 4th of July deal on an annual plan, which was 200 bucks total. Crazy cheap, almost two to three months of her current Verizon plan payment. Guess what? She got rejected from the Best Buy credit card and every other website we tried after (Samsung, Affirm, Walmart, Klarna). I made a huge mistake by not trying Best Buy first. So she is without a phone that might die at any time. She is super mad at me, and I fear what will happen next if this doesn't get figured out in the next few hours. Also, we had to use LightSpeed because Warp doesn't support her current phone. Another temporary problem, though less important.
My mindset has always been to reduce the total payment. Her mindset is to get on a monthly payment, and $30 less or more isn't important, which I should've respected. Regardless of that, our mindset is now the same: How can I reverse this fiasco? Is there any way out?
I thought about applying for Best Buy myself, but there are two problems: I am already on Best Buy for TV, and also I don't know how many months this relationship will last because of this mistake by me, and also many other problems we have, and also she is not good at paying back anyway.
I know I made a mistake. What is the best way to reverse this? Obviously, she can go back to a Verizon 36-month plan (and 200 will be lost, which I am happy to pay to her at this point immediately) if Verizon allows, or go to AT&T (which she doesn't like).
Update: I think this is my plan now. Give her my used iPhone 11 for now. Try a refund and go back to the Verizon option if Verizon and US Mobile would allow for that.
To comments about dumping: Regardless, I have to get this sh* done first.
