Transferring into USM during divorce?

Hi all, I'm sure not an uncommon question here but it's uncommon to me... My wife and I are divorcing. She got her own line, however I agreed to keep the kids (teens) on my plan. Of course, divorce is expensive and every penny counts, so I'm looking to (switch back...should have never left!) to USM and get their yearly plan for $16 or whatever that is.

The complication is that coordinating with her is a nightmare. Is there anyway I can switch me and my two kids over to USM without needing their physical phone? I get the ESIM concept so... theoretically could I just text her a qr code or something and just be like "here, have them scan this, it's their new phone plan" and be done with it?

Details are too messy to get into, so if you can just roll with my question I'd appreciate it!

QCI on the secondary network

I've got a Dark Star Line on Unlimited Premium. I have a T-Mobile line on an old grandfathered plan. This particular line has previously been on Warp though, so it should still have the grandfather priority. (Though on premium it gets that anyway).

I've read that the secondary multi line gets lower qci than a standard line between Warp and Dark Star. Is there any way to finagle both the main line and the multiline to have priority data?

Its not really going to get used a whole lot, but to be able to activate it just in case seems kinda nice. But if I'm in a pinch, I'd like it to work at full capacity.

Porting landline nightmare

I have business landline number that I’m trying to port from ATT to USM. Tell me if I’m doing anything wrong or if there’s zero hope in being able to port this number because it seems to be impossible. I decided to try and go with the Light plan because it would save me hundreds of dollars compared to the ATT legacy landline plan.

May 11 830am- tried signing up through app and speaking with a rep. Still a port request even though I never called Att to make a request

May 11 130pm- called Att and they told me there are no open port-out requests on their end and for USM to try again. Escalated

May 13 630am- asked for another update. They have not yet received a response from Att. Escalated > prioritized

May 14 8pm - asked for another update. They still see a pending open port on Att side and cannot port in until that is cancelled. Call Att to cancel the open port, then it’ll be eligible to port to USM. (Already called on May 11)

May 15 12pm - called Att again. A different agent was able to cancel any request that another rep couldn’t see for some reason. Told USM about this update but they still tell me there is a valid open port pending. “You will need to call Att to cancel the port.” I literally got off the phone with Att moments ago. Now have to wait another day.

May 16 12pm - USM resubmitted request for Att to release my number. Att offices closed on weekends. So have to wait until Monday

May 18 320pm - USM still seeing an error. I had called Att an hour ago and they told me number is released and no open port request. USM requesting a 3-way call. Att rep repeated everything to USM rep, number is eligible, released, and no open ports. USM is still seeing an error and is again prioritizing the situation. I would receive an email in 12-24 hours with a final resolution. With this “final” email, I asked if the rep could guarantee that my number will be ported and that I would not be receiving another email saying there’s still a pending port request. He says “yes”

May 19 - I respond to an email from May 18 with an update about my 3-way call. USM re-escalates the issue. USM responds again “currently being prioritized internally.”

May 20 - another email update - still a pending port request. Please call other carrier to cancel the pending port request.

I’m so over this

Any updates to the idea of potentially increasing international roaming limit on Annual Starter plan?

I believe it was last year that u/ankhattak mentioned they were looking into increasing the 1GB roaming data to 5GB. Any updates on this? It would be incredible if it was updated, even to say 3GB. 1GB is very little nowadays, and it's a huge gap from the 20GB the Premium plans get.

I’m contemplating switching to a US mobile network. Could you please recommend the best network for me?

The screenshot above provides information about the three networks available in my area. Since I primarily use the internet within my apartment, I’m wondering which network would be the most suitable for me. And sometime in subway (it is 2nd priority). Please recommend me.

Seems that same network on multi-network is allowed now?

I read from this Reddit that this isn't allowed. But I just tried to swap the network between my primary and add-on lines so for a period both of my lines are on Dark Star, and the system allowed it!

Just find it is interesting to share.

Adding family

I have had US Mobile for a couple of months now and I’m going to be switching over my mom and my dad from Verizon. Is it better for them to have their own separate account their own app on their phone or do I go into the US Mobile application and “add a line”? I’m not sure which way to go or which one is better but basically I will be paying for their service anyway and they’re not very tech savvy

Did Warp QCI change recently?

I’ve been on US Mobile for years and never left Warp. I’ve never had issues and I’m on the old premium plan that included 2 perks for multi line. I have a lot of times lately, I’d say within the last 3 months where I have service 5G or 5Guw and my phone has basically no connection. I have another device for work, which is Verizon proper and have the same signal, but the phone works. Any way to check QCI on iOS?

Want to also brag about Darkstar - this is what Flex gets you in a small town.

Now That Total Wireless Offers 300 Min Unlimited Texting and 10GB data US Mobile should offer the same and maybe it will be competitive for $25

Would like to be able to turn off international roaming to save USM money..

TL;DR - let me turn off roaming to save money for USM and allow backup calling on local ESIMs.

Or in long form..

I would like to be able to turn off international roaming in the app or website. Save USM from paying roaming fees and allow me to use “backup calling” for my USM connection.

Why? Because I don’t need it when traveling somewhere a local eSIM provides faster, cheap, local data. I would like to have my USM line running over “backup calling” across the local eSIM. Backup calling works perfectly on my iPhone wherever I can find a way to prevent USM from connecting to a local network.

And why do I care? First, why waste USM’s money? Second, USMobile has no clear statement of how much roaming unlimited premium accounts have. AI response to the question claims 90 days or “excessive usage”. But I cannot find a clear statement in the USM T&Cs. Before I joined I asked and was told no limits by a USM rep but a month or two afterward Reddit started talking about there being limits.

All I want is my voice and SMS for 2FA most of the time. Mostly 2FA SMS. Right now in Turkey I happen to want data as local SIMs are not cheap, but in 3 weeks I will be in the EU where local ones are cheap & fast, and I will want backup calling. Some months afterward I will be in Albania where I will want 3 weeks of roaming service.

What is also unclear is what USM cares about. If I roam and only use voice & SMS but not data? Or maybe it is the weirdly limited voice minutes and SMS that costs them money?

Please don’t tell me backup calling doesn’t work reliably. It works perfectly on iPhones. I have used it for years without problem whenever possible. Everyone claiming otherwise has had bad Android experiences.

Port Out Question

Hello, I’m planning to port out of US Mobile soon and I have multiple lines on my account, so I don’t want to port out one of the numbers and then that happens to close the account. So I wanted to verify if US Mobile accounts have a primary number attached to them?

Moving 3 lines to separate accounts

I have 3 lines on Unlimited All plans. They are for my adult children and I want to move them to their own plans in each of their names. What would be the process for doing this?

Now That Total Wireless Offers 300 Min Unlimited Texting and 10GB data ROAMING US Mobile should offer the same and maybe it will be competitive for $25 if they include a roaming package like this since its $44 for 20gb and $25 1gb roaming

Off topic but humor me: Arsenal are champions

Not a carrier update, sorry. Arsenal are champions of England for the first time in 22 years and I have waited a long time to type that.

Normal coverage map convergence posting resumes tomorrow. Today the only network I care about is the one that just won the league.
