Is doing a Data Analytics internship before a Master's in Cybersecurity a good idea?

Hey everyone,

Qualifications:

- 3rd-year B.E. Computer Science student (entering 4th year in a couple of months)

- Deeply interested in cybersecurity

- Looking for a mandatory 6-month internship before graduation

- Planning to pursue a Master's in Cybersecurity abroad after my bachelor's

I'm currently a 3rd-year Computer Science student (I'll be entering my 4th year in a couple of months), and I'm really interested in cybersecurity. My long-term goal is to build a career in cyber, and I'm planning to pursue a Master's in Cybersecurity abroad after completing my bachelor's.

The issue is that my college requires every student to complete a 6-month internship before graduating, and cybersecurity internships in India seem to be extremely limited, especially for students without prior experience.

Because of that, I've been thinking about doing my mandatory internship in Data Analytics or Data Science instead, just so I can fulfill the internship requirement, gain industry experience, and strengthen my resume. After graduation, I would apply for a Master's in Cybersecurity abroad and then look for cybersecurity jobs after completing my master's.

Do you guys think this is a good plan, or would spending 6 months in Data Analytics/Data Science hurt my chances of getting into cybersecurity later? Would employers or universities see it negatively?

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has taken a non-cyber internship before transitioning into cybersecurity, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thanks in advance!
