Help! I don’t know what to do?!

I am in desperate need of guidance. My girlfriend’s FLF has been through some dire straits, and after an emergency repot to deal with root rot, has finally started sprouting new leaves. We also were able to split the roots and separate out a whole new tree!

Now for the current issues. As seen in the photos, most of the leaves were dropped due to the stressful repotting and aid, but have started sprouting new leaves. The issue is they’re very high on the plant and quickly approaching the ceiling. How do we curb the vertical growth and get more leaves without just pruning off the few existing leaves?
Second, there’s a dead branch sprouting that I think should come off, but I have no head if that actually helps or how close to the main branch to trim?

Please you guys, Figgy has been through so much and I’m confident she can thrive if I knew what to do
