Nursing- first semester studying help
Hey everyone, I recently started the Valencia nursing program and I’m currently taking Intro and Health Assessment. I’ve been struggling a little trying to figure out the best way to study, and I wanted to ask people who successfully graduated from the program what worked for you guys.
Right now, I’ve mainly been reading the textbook and taking notes directly from it because I feel like the PowerPoints are kind of vague, and I’m scared I’ll miss important information for the exams if I only study those. The problem is the chapters are SO long, and I honestly don’t think it’s realistic to read every single page and take detailed notes for every chapter while keeping up with everything else.
The thing is, taking notes while reading feels like the only way I really learn and retain information, so I’m feeling a little stuck trying to find a more efficient strategy.
I also saw another post where people were recommending YouTube videos and Simple Nursing, but honestly I haven’t really had trouble understanding the material so far (I know it’s still the beginning). My main issue is more the amount of time everything takes. I’m worried that if I barely have enough time to finish the readings and notes, then when would I even have time to use extra resources like Simple Nursing or videos on top of that?
Do you guys have any advice on how you studied? Did you focus mostly on the book, PowerPoints, practice questions, videos, etc.? And how were the exams compared to the textbook material? Were they heavily based on the book or more on lectures?
Any tips would honestly help a lot. Thank you!
