is 4 classes too much?

hi friends!

i recently made the decision to go back to school after graduating high school 7 years ago! but bc its been so long im super nervous that im taking on too much quickly. i work part time like 25-30 hours sun-tues and have 2 in person classes on wednesdays (mixed) and 2 online only classes.

im trying to start off with the easiest prereqs i need for the program im interested in. im starting off with:

freshman comp I

mathematical thinking

general psychology

intro to humanities

i really want to do the easiest classes first (math is def the hardest for me out of these) to get used to the new routine. my upcoming classes in the spring + summer semester will be more intense so i dont want to take on as many classes after the fall... but is 4 classes too much or should i drop 1? i live on my own with my partner so ofc i have home responsibilities and my job is exhausting- but its only for 3 days then i have the rest of the week to focus on school but i really dont know what to expect. i fear of getting burnt out quickly. any advice is appreciated :)

Last minute switch in Anatomy professor :(

I registered for fall term for Anatomy and Physiology with Bryan Derrickson. Unfortunately, valencia e-mailed me saying they switched to Kritofor Berner…

The rate my prof reviews are not good… only other option is Mary Grady which also does not have good reviews

Class starts next week. If anyone has any tips on what I could do or reviews about the only 2 professors I can take, pleaseee tell me.

I’m trying to get an A for this course since I am going to apply for a limited program.

Do I need an ID?

So I’ll be attending classes in person at both the Downtown campus and East. I’m wondering if i actually need my ID right now for anything or if i could hold off for a little?

New to Downtown Campus and Very Confused

Hey so I've emailed my student success coach but not heard back yet because she's busy, so I figured I might as well ask here.

I'm a culinary student starting my first in-person classes on Monday. I have ordered my Downtown ID online and was told to pick it up at the Downtown Campus, but it's a ghost town. I didn't find anyone to talk to when I went to both the Dr. Philips Academic Commons or the Student Affairs Building. Also the Student Affairs building seems to be...under construction? It feels very liminal to say the least.

School starts in a week and I do not feel prepared at all. I have my uniforms, my gear, and my books. But I don't know where my classrooms are. There is so little information about the Downtown Campus on the MyVC page that this feels like a prank.

Does anyone know when there will be human beings that I can talk to in person at the Downtown Campus? Or where exactly I get that ID card I ordered?

TLDR: The Downtown Campus is confusing and I feel like I'm being pranked.

In need of extra Graduation Tickets!

Hey everyone! I am graduating this semester and have family coming to support me, so I am looking for extra tickets for the ceremony.Since the school limit is 5 tickets per graduate, I am trying to see if anyone has leftovers they won't be using. If you aren't planning on walking, or if you have extra paper tickets from your Grad Box, please let me know!I can easily meet up on West Campus (or potentially East Campus) to pick them up from you in person. Please send me a DM if you have any extras to spare. Thank you so much! 🎓

How to stay enrolled in Sprong 2027?

I am currently enrolled as a student for Fall 2026. I readmitted myself as a student Summer 2026 and intended to take classes in the Fall but bc they deactivated my account due to secondary identification I had to drop my classes and will have to wait another semester. My problem is I know valencia will disenroll me again if I don't take classes for three semesters. So, how do I keep myself enrolled for Spring 2027 to register for classes? How will I know when they will lock my account? Should I ask advising? I dont want to go through deactivating my account again before Spring semester and lose my chance to sign up for classes.

Text book help PLEASE

This might be a silly question but are we not allowed to access our books before class? I’ve been trying to access my a&p2 and my microbiology books but every time I try it says my access codes are invalid. I contacted the professor and asked if I needed a code or a link and they said no I can just read the book on its own. When I contact Pearson and McGraw-Hill they say I need a code from the professor. I’ve been sent in circles all day 😭😭This is my first time taking classes at Valencia so I genuinely don’t know😕 I never had this problem at my previous college

If I’m doing something wrong PLEASE let me know!!!

2026 FCLE test takers

How was it? It’s my final semester, and I need to get this done. Do I need to keep up with current events? Study history? Is the Canvas course enough, or are there any other resources you’d recommend?

All the works—I need them. 🫡

Has anyone ever taken only a lab not lecture portion of a class?

Wanted to go to first stop to ask this but the virtual department was at capacity, i dont have time to drive to campus, and my advisor has not responded to me all summer. If i sign up for bsc2086c but only need to take the lab portion, is there a way i can only take the lab and not the lecture? Ive taken the lecture portion at my other school around two years ago and passed with an A but never took the lab since it wasn't a requirement for the degree i was seeking at the time. Now it is a requirement but i obviously dont want to retake the lecture portion just to get credit for the lab. Has anyone had experience with this and know if they are separable? Thanks in advance!

Removed from Courses

I was registered in 5 courses but today i checked my Student Profile and they’re all gone. My only guess is the fee deadline but i was told that my grant covered them. It’s Sunday so i can’t call first stop, what should i do?

Hey y’all, came back from Brazil and my car battery is completely dead. Does anyone have one of those boxes with the cables that can jumpstart a car? My key got stuck in the ignition and I believe that jumpstarting it will help me to remove 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Tuition due today

Is there anything I have to do on my end to make sure my tuition is paid if I'm using the Pell grant? My account says I have a balance to date and my authorized aid, but no balance due, and that I'm being charged for my classes but no payments have been made. It's not showing anything that I need to complete or that anything is unsatisfied, do I just wait?

How can I have a better chance getting into the Sonography program?

I heard they only accept 12 students in per year and I was wondering what grades and teas scores did you have that accepted you into the program?

Random selection for identity verification

Anyone else going through this? Apparently I was randomy selected to verify my identity in the month of July even though I had enrolled many months ago and registered for classes. They sent me emails in July that I had to go to the admissions office to prove my identity?! I am a U.S. born citizen and provided all that during admission but suddenly they selected me a month before the semester starts to do that. So unlucky for me I wasn't checking my emails and they deactivated my account because of that so now I have to pay a late fee, pro ably lose the classes I enrolled for, all because I look brown in my picture and my name isn't white. Since when florida colleges start making this racist rule?

Quick question does financial aid automatically pay or something because I been trying to get in contact with Valencia for days and they won’t answer

I’m a freshman so I’m in the early stage because I’m worried it will just drop and I won’t be able to start and it has a whole different major I chose during before I graduate but I change it before applying 😭 am I cook

Waiting for residency, drop classes?

Hello! I have been fighting to prove my residency for over a month now and it’s still not approved. I’ve lived in Florida for my entire life and my documents keep getting denied and I keep calling in and adding new ones per their request. So anyways, tomorrow the tuition is due and right now, my balance is the non resident tuition rate. Should I drop all my classes before they bill my account or can I keep them and once the residency is approved they will adjust the difference?
