Looking to update my living room, starting with new furniture. I'm thinking about getting a sectional, like maybe a U-shaped one. We'll be able to face the TV, however it blocks the fireplace.

My mom really has a nack for interior decorating and suggested I get a small sectional with chaise and put it against the wall. Across from this, a loveseat or swivel recliners to prevent blocking the fireplace. But I don't want to look sideways to watch TV. She also suggested moving the TV to the other wall, putting the fireplace on the right of the couch, but that layout seems weird to me.

Also the fireplace is an electric insert that we use during the short winters. Appreciate any suggestions or ideas we have haven't thought of.
