As mentioned in the title, I am a British citizen applying from overseas, and have been living overseas for over 10 years. I apparently need to live in the UK for 9 months before being able to go to basic, but I don't want to put my life on hold for more than half a year waiting.

I've looked around and any information on a residency waiver is contradictory and hard to parse through. Any information on the application for a waiver or anything similar would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Edit: 1 Para, my bad More a question of curiosity than of personal desire (not trying to be the next Para/Marine/Commando SAS SFSG supersoldier like so many 16yo GCSE failures on this sub), but how would someone in the Paras go about joining 1 Para?

Afaik, 1 Para is the SFSG elite unit of Paras, a cut above the rest, so how would you join it? Is there a separate test, or course? Do they just take the best guys fresh out of P-Coy, or is it something else?
