"Mickey Mouse degrees"

I think we need to stop throwing around the term "mickey mouse degrees". Genuinely no degrees are useless. All areas of study are important to culture and human life and interaction.

Sociology is important.
Art is important.
Music is important.
Performing art is important.
Anthropology is important.

Niche courses are how we end up with such a diverse culture and society.

EDIT: This got way more attention than i thought it would, genuinely didn't know this many people were so obsessed with science to the point of forgetting that arts and social sciences are also important and necessary for a lot of jobs. As well as the transferable skills gained from doing a degree such as research, critical thinking, academic writing etc. Importance isn't only reliant on earning potential.

EDIT 2: And I also feel the need to clarify that I hold a degree in Forensic Science for all of the comments saying I'm just jealous that I didn't do a STEM degree haha.

I've applied to study MSc (Online, Part Time) Social Justice and Community Action.

Wondering if anyone else has applied for an online masters at Edinburgh starting 2026 and wanted to get in touch!

AITA for having other friends?

During my second and third year at uni I had a lot going on in my personal life and with my health declining due to the stress and a chronic condition.

Around this time I met some new friends through activism and ended up with one of them as my
partner (still is).

Many of my uni friends suddenly became distant and cold towards me and ghosting my hang out invitations. Occasionally I'd hear odd comments about my activism from a couple of them, one friend more so than the rest. My flatmate (who is in the friend group) also began to be horrible around this time too.

My health declining changed my priorities in life quite a bit and I decided after graduation that I want to pursue arts for now and not science. My friends didn't seem to take this well, acting like I'm throwing my life away and like my
partner is somehow manipulating me?

I've been vocal towards them all about how they're all being odd towards me and get told I'm overreacting every time. And now barely any of us talk.

extra info:
•politics weren't really discussed within the friend group outside of everyone being openly more left wing.
•i can't do activism full time as i'm disabled.
•i'm mixed and multiple people in the friend group are international students.
•the activism isn't a new thing, just the friends i made through it.
