What’s you go-to response too whenever a “You hate fun” kind of person accuses you of being some miserable contrarian who lacks whimsy?

I usually say “you know that’s bullshit, because I guarantee you can name something you strongly dislike, breakdown why responsibly and understandably, and I can easily say ‘you hate fun as well.’

I think Cosmic Brownies and Mountain Dew are addictive poison created to shorten your life span, have multiple sources to prove so, and should be consumed less in favor for a far healthier and happier life.

What’s that? You hate a delicious and scrumptious childhood snack and drink I obsess over because I desperately grasp onto the last fleeting things of my childhood bring me comfort and joy in my miserable adult life?

Tsk, tsk, tsk. How’s it feel to have no whimsy in your life, loser?

That’s how these people think…

It’s very easy to run to such a bad-faith assumption when faced with a person who finds a “fun movie” bad, or actually enjoyable to watch, but nothing too particularly special, instead of actually engaging kn what a person wants too share about a film or TV show that someone found monumental faults in.

And that’s the issue.

It’s the “fun = great” kind of people that can’t grasp that an entertaining film can be critiqued or not hyped-up by a person.

It’s literally how a child thinks. That’s no ordinary than what a kid watching Cocomelon thinks.

And people get offended by that.

Actually, let’s play a game.

How much do you wanna bet these “you lack whimsy in your life” type of people who call you film snobs and pretentious are also the ‘media literacy’ goblins of the internet, who feel the need too correct you whenever you have an interpretation of an artist work that isn’t there’s?

Or at the very least, watch content creators who center themselves on that discussion (like Gramgulia, Birdman, etc?)

These people are shameless fuckers who have no standards for anything watch, or believe in anything they say.

Anyways, share what you think. Goodnight, Stay safe :)

Not like superhero films because they’re “childish.” What’s your take on those kinds of people?

What I mean is, people who dismiss all superhero films as childish because they present colorful imagery such found in costumes and aesthetics, vibrant personalities, and basic, black and white morality of good vs. evil.

I think they’re very close-minded people, with very broad and vague arguments.

Whenever people dismiss these films as “silly,” they almost single handedly never define what ‘silly’ is.

And even if they can, they never explain why it’s bad to begin with.

It’s the same whenever they take issue with the black and white morality of these films.

That’s what I mean by close minded. There’s hardly any actual pushback beyond what they’ve chosen to consume on a surface level with these films.

Comic book superheroes the medium have great stories, amazing character arcs, great character development. All unfortunately tainted by reboots from DC and Marvel who refuse to let their characters progress.

It saddens me that someone can think Batman or Superman is childish, because their stories presents all of the above they think are bad.

The even worse part is the sense of superiority. I’ve seen people call others who like superhero films as ‘retarded man children.’

They fail to realize that that very same line of behavior makes them childish themselves. The need too find superiority in other because you the content they consume too be innately childish.

To end on a note, you shouldn’t be afraid of being childish. Why would you?

My younger nephew watches Teen Titans, and we play pretend all the time where he’s Robin and I’m Slade.

There’s so many joys you can find in placing yourself in a kiddish setting, and letting go of the perception other miserable people have of you because they like controlling narratives in their unhappy lives.

Myself, and plenty of others can enjoy an episode of Justice League Unlimited, while watching a movie like Scarface, and not feel the need to be an adult.

You don’t have to be unhappy because someone thinks you’re a crayon-eating, snot-nose toddler who gawks at the sight of Spider-Man on their Television screens.

Anyways, stay safe :)
