A different direction for Resurrection Season 2 (Photo spoilers)

I've kept the title vague so that I'm not spoiling anyone on this subreddit, but I know this is pretty much impossible now considering some leaks/spoilers, but wouldn’t it be cool if we didn’t know that quinn was investigating/coming for dexter for the first few episodes, maybe 1 or 2. We are left on that cliffhanger scene with quinn saying “where the fuck are you” to batista on the phone in season 1, then randomly at some point in season 2 he appears out of nowhere and shocks everyone, even dexter. Dexter knew that batista would be coming after him, though i dont think he’d expect quinn. Having quinn randomly appear would be different to every other antagonist in the show; having everything go flawless for dexter in the first few episodes may make people think “its going too well”, and then suddenly quinn appears. Think of attack on titan season 4 episode 5, where we just had reiner and his world for 5 episodes straight and out of NOWHERE eren pops up, which we would’ve expected but not in this way. I feel like this would work SO well for dexter. A needed plot twist, with a character that a majority of the audience loves. Maybe quinn would trap dexter? Something like a note in a serial killers room saying “meet me here at xx:xx”, dexter thinking that it was supposed to be a serial killer meetup but it was infact a trap from quinn. Though thats quite unrealistic, im sure there is many possible ways it could be executed. Too bad its most likely impossible, but i feel it’d be cool to implement

Debra Morgan Married to Harry Morgan...Coincidence? 😂 (No Spoilers)

I’m reading a great mystery book, A Deadly Episode by Anthony Horowitz and giggled when I came across a character named Debra Morgan. Then, I found out she was married to Harry Morgan! I believe we have a Dexter fan here, guys! 😊

ETA: this book was just released May 2026

Dexter’s dry humor.

Lyla: You going to tell me how you’re doing?

Dexter: I’m fine.

Lyla: Come on, Dex. Open up.

Dexter: Very fine?

Ha, don’t you love those moments? Almost as much fun as watching someone like Lyla.

Mr. Hall did a great job (still does) giving depth to a character who’s basically emotionless. Along with the writers who penned moments like above.

(SPOILERS) I kind of ship them tbh

This would honestly be the best chance for Dexter to actually find someone that would accept him. Its clear that Charlie hates serial killers but since Dexter exclusively kills other killers, i think she accepts him and what he does. It seems to be the only chance dexter has at finding love.

Dexter in the Dark

So I am reading the series of books Dexter is based on and I just wanted to share a thought. I notice, when comparing the two, the show focuses a lot on Dexters growth/character development as a person. Usually attempting to lean away from his vigilante like serial killer self ("become a better person"). Whereas Jeff Lindsay focuses on the 'mental' development of the dark passenger, not in any direction but just more depth to understanding IT as its own entity. And I just gotta say I kinda love that direction of the novels more. Just one example of this deeper dive into the dark passenger: the entire introduction of Dexter in the Dark has such poetic and humanlike narrative from ITs( 😉) perspective.

Graduation Cap 26’

I 3D printed and made this graduation cap inspired by the Dexter theme using my Bambu Lab A1 Combo from Bambu Lab. I designed and printed all the pieces myself, then put everything together by hand to match the dark red “blood spatter” style from the show. The raised white pieces were printed separately so it would stand out more instead of being flat paper like most graduation caps.

I don’t really see many Dexter-themed graduation caps, especially fully 3D printed ones, so I wanted to make something different and personal for graduation. Took a lot of trial and error getting the sizing, colors, and print settings right on my A1 Combo, but I’m super happy with how it came out in the end.

S7 EP11

holy fk am i the only one that thinks dexter going after hector estrada is lazy writing??? it made no sense that literally the sequence of events of him getting investigated by laguerta then dexter vetting hector. he knew she knew about his past and for a guy as smart as him it made no sense to rush killing hector.

Ending of Season 7

What the actual fuck…? Why did Dexter not give LaGuerta the same courtesy that he gave Debra by giving her a chance to see what good he is doing…?

And why the hell did he let Debra make the choice between him and LaGuerta instead of letting him take LaGuerta’s life.

I don’t know how I feel about LaGuerta dying… but I think him choosing Debra over Hannah gave Debra a push towards her choosing her brother over justice. But ahhhh gawd Debra and LaGuerta was my favorite enemies to friends duo.

Harrison’s Career Parallels: Dexter Season 1 vs. Resurrection Seasons 1 and 2

When we first met Rita in Dexter Season 1, she worked at Z Hotel Reception Desk as Hostess/Concierge. In Resurrection Season 1, Harrison lived in NYC and worked as a Bellhop in Empire Hotel.

Debra began her career in Law Enforcement as an Officer in Vice in Dexter Season 1 but quickly transferred to Miami Metro Homicide. In Resurrection Season 2, Harrison will begin his career in Law Enforcement as an Officer in the New York Police Department Homicide Division.

Great way to pay tribute to his mom and aunt.

Perhaps we see him as a Chef and/or a Florist to pay tribute to his step mom who raised him in Resurrection Season 3.

Deb

I just finished the original series (late to the party, I know). Deb’s death has affected me surprisingly deeply so forgive me if I ramble a bit while I collect my thoughts.

There was always that question whether or when Deb would find out about Dexter’s dark secret… The way the writers decided to let her in on the secret in that church in season 7 was phenomenal. That may have been my favorite season. Isaac was a great adversary, too.

I respect the writers for exploring a taboo. That took guts. It was refreshing, even though it felt a bit forced at first, imo. I’ll have to rewatch some of the earlier seasons to see if there were any hints of Deb’s attraction to Dexter or if this is something that was added later (probably it was). Even though they didn’t end up exploring that part of the story much, it made the ending even sadder somehow. There was yet another thing Deb couldn’t have.

But I hate Dexter for what he did to her. She was a truly good person. He corrupted her. He put her into situations where she had to make impossible decisions. She needed him so badly she ended up losing herself in the process. And yet somehow, she had the strength to work through all that.

She looked so proud when they got Saxon in Dexter’s bedroom at night. It seemed like she and Dexter had finally found a way to coexist. But then we see her lying at the station about Hannah the next day (?). We know she can’t work on the force anymore and keep/restore her integrity. She’d always have to be ready to keep covering for Dexter somehow.

Contrast that with Deb’s unbreachable integrity from earlier seasons where that woman from internal affairs kept trying to get her to rat out her colleagues. She would have never done that. But later, for Dexter, she was willing to do just about anything even if it went against her principles.

Saxon, by the way, was an interesting juxtaposition to both Deb and Dexter. Deb is salt of the earth; Dexter is a bad guy who at least tries to rein in his badness and make some good of it. But Saxon is just full-on psychopath. Absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I liked that the show explored different ‘shades’ of evil.

Harry was right to warn Dexter about living a double life or getting attached to anyone. But in a way, that was the problem, too: that caused Dexter to be weary about getting too close to Deb, who wanted that connection so badly. Would it have killed him to tell her he loved her or to hug her every now and then?

Dexter’s whole justification was to give bad people what they deserved. And arguably, many of them did. He saw to that. But a lot of good people around him didn’t get what they deserved at all. Rita, Doakes, La Guerta didn’t get what they deserved. And Deb definitely didn’t get what she deserved. Dexter caused their demise. Deb’s death was the worst of all.

Dexter ruined Deb. And then he had the nerve to throw her into the ocean like one of his victims! He should have found a way to give her a proper burial. Unforgivable.

My compliments to Jennifer Carpenter for portraying Deb so well. What a great actrees.

Deb was the true hero of the story. Rest in peace, sweet foulmouthed Deb :(

Is Dexter: Resurrection the last hurrah of Dexter… or not?

Hear me out.

So far we’ve had:

  • Dexter — Miami (2006–2010)
  • Dexter: New Blood — Iron Lake (2021)
  • Dexter: Resurrection — 2021/2022, still in New York
  • Dexter IV: 2030+?

Personally, I hope they do like 8 seasons of Dexter: Resurrection, then take a break and eventually give us a fourth major series set somewhere totally different Europe, Japan, or even Australia/New Zealand.

I remember people on here years ago saying they wanted Dexter in Japan lol, And Are they going to follow any of the books or just keep doing their own thing as well?

So what do you think? Is Resurrection the final form of Dexter we’ll get? Maybe another long run like the original 8 seasons? Or do you think Michael C. Hall will want to keep going even when he’s pushing 70+?

Honestly, I wouldn’t even mind that.

if you could change ONE thing about the series, what would you change?

there are a lot you could change about the show, so what would you change?

i have a lot but some i’ll share are the debra therapist storyline on season 6 because… yeah.

dexter being the one to kill laguerta instead of debra but with debra watching him do it because the #1 rule on his code and debra would still be messed up about it and that can transition to season 8 pretty well.

basically change almost everything on season 8… too much on that season to name to fix but i think we all know what.

what are yours?
