UPDATE: 12.5mg has completely changed things for me

I wanted to come back and update everyone because so many of you took the time to reply to my original post.
When I wrote it, I’d just completed my first week on 12.5mg and had only lost 0.34kg (0.75lb) that week. At that point
my stats were:

Started Mounjaro: 29th December 2025 (officially January 2026)
Starting weight: 29 st 11.4 lb (189.8kg)
Current weight then: 29 st 0.25 lb (184.3kg)
Total loss then: 5.5kg (12.1lb)
I genuinely felt deflated. 😪

Fast forward two weeks…
I’m so glad I stuck with it.
Current weight: 28 st 7⅝ lb (181.3kg)
Loss since my last weigh-in: 3kg (6.6lb) over two weeks — my biggest loss since starting Mounjaro.
Total loss since starting: 8.7kg (19.2lb / 1 st 5lb).

If you’ve found this post because you’re feeling exactly how I felt… you’re a slow responder, you’re eating less, tracking your food, doing everything you can, yet your losses don’t seem to compare with everyone else’s… please don’t give up.

Let’s all hang in there. ❤️
Everyone responds differently. Please don’t assume Mounjaro isn’t working just because your journey doesn’t look like someone else’s.

For me, 12.5mg has given me my biggest loss so far. Looking back, the same thing happened when I moved to 10mg—the first week or two wasn’t particularly impressive, then the bigger losses came afterwards.

I’ve also booked an appointment with my GP for a hormonal check. I’m going to ask about metformin, as I’ve had irregular periods for years, have been plus-size for most of my life, and I’m wondering whether insulin resistance could be playing a role. If my GP prescribes it, I’ll definitely come back and update everyone on how it affects my weight loss.

I honestly can’t explain how happy I feel today. 🥹
Thank you again to everyone who replied to my original post. Your encouragement genuinely stopped me from losing hope, and I wanted to come back and let you all know that you were right.
Patience really did pay off. ❤️

Slow loser on Mounjaro - looking for similar experiences on 12.5mg

Started Mounjaro in January 2026 (technically 29th December 2025) and I’m hoping to hear from people who consider themselves slow responders.
My starting weight was 29 st 11.4 lb (189.8 kg).
My current weight is 29 st 0.25 lb (184.3 kg).
Total loss since starting: 5.5 kg (12.1 lb).
I’ve just completed my first week on 12.5mg and this week’s loss was only 0.75 lb (0.34 kg), which has left me feeling quite deflated.
The reason I’m struggling is because Mounjaro is clearly doing something. My appetite is much lower than before, I get full very quickly, and I eat significantly less than I did before starting treatment.
I’ve worked through the doses from 2.5mg upwards. Looking back, I seem to remember that when I moved to 10mg, the first week or two wasn’t particularly impressive either and most of my losses came later on that dose. The same happened on 5mg.
So I’m genuinely looking for lived experiences from people who:
Lost weight very slowly at the beginning.
Didn’t really respond until the higher doses.
Found that 12.5mg or 15mg made the biggest difference.
Started at a higher body weight and experienced slower losses initially.
Had weeks where appetite suppression was strong but the scale didn’t seem to reflect it.
I’m not really looking for advice about calorie deficits, tracking apps, protein targets, or exercise plans. Those conversations have already been had.
What I’d really appreciate is hearing from people who have actually lived through a similar experience.
Did you eventually start losing more on 12.5mg or 15mg?
Were you a slow responder who still went on to have success?
And for those who started at a much higher weight, did you find the lower doses were mainly helping appetite while the bigger weight losses came later?
I appreciate honesty, whether your experience was positive or negative. I’m trying to understand whether what I’m experiencing is unusual or whether others have followed a similar path.
Thank you.

As someone who has posted here before and complained about being a slow responder (which I still believe I am 😅), I thought it was only right to come back and give an update.

I started on 29 December 2025 at around 190 kg (419 lbs / 29 st 13 lbs).

I did 4 weeks each on:

2.5 mg

5 mg

7.5 mg

10 mg

I’ve now been on 10 mg for 6 weeks.

In total, I have only lost 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs / 10 lbs).

My experience so far:

2.5 mg – nothing really happened for me.

5 mg – I lost 2 kg (4.4 lbs / 4 lbs).

7.5 mg – mixed results, some weeks I gained, some weeks I maintained. Honestly my worst dose.

10 mg – first 2 weeks nothing happened, but the last 4 weeks I’ve been losing around 0.5 kg a week (1.1 lbs / 1 lb).

For context:

I eat healthy

I drink 3 litres of water a day

I do not go to the gym

Exercise is limited

Some days I do 3,000 steps, some days 6,000, some days 700.

What I’ve noticed (and I may be wrong) is that since moving to the higher dose and after the medication had been in my system for a while, things seem to be working better. Even though I haven’t had the dramatic losses some people post here, it actually hasn’t been bad at all. It’s been steady, and I’m grateful for that.

I’m wondering if for some of us slower responders, it can take time for the medication to really kick in.

If you’re going through something similar, I hope this encourages you not to give up.

And if you’ve had a similar experience, please share your thoughts. Especially for those of us who cannot exercise much, still need to lose weight, and definitely do not want to give up.
