[OC] The Correction File - A Digimon Time Stranger Creepypasta [Fanfic/Spoilers]

⚠️ SPOILER WARNING: This is a fan-made creepypasta containing lore/theories about Digimon Story Time Stranger (Iliad Server / Homeros / Olympos XII). No official game ending spoilers, but read at your own risk.

We were summoned by Jupitermon himself. Not Yggdrasil. The Olympos XII. We are from the Archive Division, the ones they send when time breaks.
JUPITERMON:
"The Homeros Server is glitching. Unlike all traditional adventures tightly bound to Yggdrasil, the phenomenon you humans call Time Stranger is concentrated here, on the Iliad Server, on Homeros. It explores unique territories, lore and conflicts that span time itself. There is a war that never truly ended, the War of the Titans. A conspiracy that intertwines past and present, with divine entities like Chronomon, myself, and the Olympos XII. Go and see why time there is rewinding on its own..."
So me and Terriermon landed where the Archive marked the Temple of Homeros. There was no wind, but the trees were moving.
TERRIERMON:
"Do you feel it too? There's no smell of Digimon here. It smells like an old file."
Inside the temple there was no altar. There was an egg, large, warm, guarded on Homeros's seat. And in front of it, a terminal turned on by itself. It opened as soon as we got close.
FILE:
" Iliad was once ruled by two beings of absolute power who held it together, the wise guardian Homeros who watched over law and order, and the great guardian Chronomon who protected its inhabitants, and their presence allowed a period of peace and prosperity so long it seemed unnatural, until the evil forces of the Titans conspired to take it by launching an assault on their domain. To protect the people Chronomon went to the field alone and after a fierce and terrible conflict managed to push the Titans back into the depths of the earth itself, but he came back with mortal wounds and, surrounded by the grieving population, with his last breath declared that his will would pass to another guardian when peace was threatened again, then he died leaving only that egg you are now looking at, which was taken and kept in Homeros's seat in a temple built to symbolize peace, where everyone has waited for it to awaken ever since."
The file continued:
"On the coast, in a seaside village at the edge of the world, a Shellmon finds a wounded Divermon and saves him even though he is a Titan, an enemy, and that kindness opens his heart until they become inseparable friends, until the other Titans attack the village without mercy forcing everyone to flee, Shellmon included, and when Divermon sees his tears he can't take it anymore, he turns against his own comrades and drives them away, and for that act he blossoms into a new warrior, he becomes Neptunemon, sovereign of the seas. Right then Venusmon appears, who is actually the adult form of that Shellmon to whom Neptunemon owes his life, but neither of them knows it, she is convinced he is the repulsive Titan who stole the oceans from her people so she sends him poisoned wine which he drinks without suspecting anything and dies, and when she discovers who she really killed she collapses in despair with her mind shattered by guilt and at that exact moment the poison spreads into the ocean transforming it into a sea of death."
Here the file glitched, then resumed:
"Correction.
In another overwritten memory, Venusmon was conspiring from within to bring down the Titans and, once she discovers Neptunemon's true identity, the two join forces, push them back and swear to work side by side to protect the seas, and only then does the ocean shine again."
ME:
"It's correcting itself."
I said, confused.
TERRIERMON:
"Did you hear? At first he died... Now it says they saved each other. It's like someone is trying to fix the ending."
"It's not a memory."
I mumbled without taking my eyes off the terminal.
"Someone is choosing which ending to keep."
Another file opened right after:
FILE:
"In the primordial forest, Bacchusmon, the village chief who loves to drink, lived happily with Sirenmon, the one of songs, and with the other inhabitants, and every attempt by the Titans to take the forest was repelled by his strength with every victory ending in a feast, only those toasts left everyone drunk and vulnerable, and the Titans, working meticulously in the shadows, wait until Bacchusmon is completely drunk to send an assassin who puts the entire village to sleep, and the assault that follows leads to the death of Sirenmon and many others with the forest withering, and Bacchusmon, crushed by pain and guilt, brings a bottle of poison to his own lips, silencing the music forever.
Correction.
In another memory, the Titans are still defeated but Sirenmon still dies in battle and he, convinced that one day she will be resurrected, swears to keep waiting for her, and protected by that feeling the forest invigorates and begins to mark time again."
FILE:
"In the same land the brothers Bearmon shared an inseparable bond, with the little one admiring the strength of the older and the older protecting the shyness of the younger, who swore to become strong together until the Titans attacked their city and, even though they fought valiantly, were wounded, chased away and separated in the chaos. Time passes and the little one, keeping his promise, grows into a valorous warrior who searches for his brother everywhere without finding him until sadness becomes anger and hatred for the Titans becomes the only thing he knows how to handle with his fists, and when they finally reunite he discovers that his brother has become Callismon, a slave of the Titans forced to fight in the arena, so Grapleomon enters to save him but discovers that abominable modifications have transformed him into a ferocious monster and a brutal battle begins that reaches its climax when Grapleomon digivolves into Marsmon and strikes the final blow, and only then are Callismon's mind and heart restored even though his body can no longer be undone."
The file replicated Callismon's voice in the distance:
CALLISMON:
"I'm counting on you. Don't let other Digimon end up like me."
FILE:
"And it's the first time the older brother depends on him, so Marsmon swears to carry on that wish."
TERRIERMON:
"His brother had become a monster too..."
Terriermon's voice dropped.
"I know..."
I added, lost in thought.
FILE:
"Merukimon was a warrior of unparalleled speed and strength whose valor attracted so many Digimon that they first formed a village and then a great bustling city, which is struck by a poisoned arrow while protecting a resident and, even though he puts up a desperate resistance, he yields before the horde that conquers the city burning the houses, so he and his allies flee to the human world where they establish a base, but the toxins continue to corrode his body until, gathering his last strength, he attempts a final assault, fails and sacrifices himself to let the others escape dying with the dream of retaking the city.
Correction.
A mystical medicine erases the poison, strength returns to his legs, he rises with his comrades, disperses the Titan army and retakes the city which becomes a refuge for everyone again."
FILE:
"Plutomon was the king of the land of the Titans who had ruled Iliad and who, forced to abdicate, had made the underworld his new kingdom where he judged wandering souls in silence, until one fateful day he reappeared at the head of an army starting a large-scale invasion, so our heroes march towards his castle to stop him but inside they don't find a king, they find the living corpse of a Digimon, the ruined form of what once was Plutomon."
"If that is Plutomon, who is really giving orders to the Titans?"
I said at this point, with a hint of confusion.
FILE:
"Chronomon held power over time and could decipher the Akashic Records preserved in the depths of Iliad, a being of absolute presence, until one day he found a fragment engraved in the Records that said this world hosts a superior being on a plane above ours, a creator who conceived everything, and that truth brought him to despair because it meant that every event was already preordained and that all existence was nothing but gears of a machine built by that being. To break the chains he ordered the Titans to enter battle against the superior being but he was easily defeated and sealed alive inside the core of the very device that governs time, the Akashic Records, while the Titans were labeled as traitors and exiled to the lowest level of Iliad and branded as the villains of the Digital World. Chronomon's curse was the true catalyst behind all the events that threw the world into chaos, a malevolent will that manipulated some Titan warriors from the shadows."
FILE:
"The same will slips in everywhere, even in Vulcanusmon, master of all forging techniques and avatar of the god of the forge capable of creating anything, attracted by the mystery of the human world where he finally manages to bond with humans exchanging knowledge and friendship until he is captured by humans with evil intent who use what he taught them to create weapons until they try to build a gigantic humanoid weapon capable of wiping out all Digimon, not only using him as a guinea pig but assimilating his body directly into the weapon, he who wanted to improve the world becomes himself a threat, then he is saved by compassionate humans who feel ashamed and he, willing to forgive, says that the evil machinations must stop so Digimon and humans fight as one."
FILE:
"And finally Junomon, the divine oracle adored by Minervamon and many others, full of joy because she can't wait to fulfill her sacred duty of taking under her wing the great guardian of Iliad and helping him grow, and after waiting for him for a long time she finally meets him but at that exact moment the Titans begin a massive invasion and the two are separated again in the chaos so much so that from that day on the doors of her temple are sealed and will never open again.
Junomon loved the great guardian so much that she felt jealousy, and Chronomon's resentful will takes advantage of those dark feelings to creep inside her and transform her into a tragic puppet, until she manages to regain her free will breaking the curse with the help of her rediscovered companions, and while she was possessed she learns an important truth, that Aegiomon was created by Chronomon as a replacement gear.
"STOP! STOP THE FILE FOR A SECOND!
Chronomon was not defeated, he tricked everyone!"
I said. We were starting to realize how things really went.
TERRIERMON:
"Aegiomon was created by Chronomon as a replacement gear, he made Iliad believe the Titans were the bad guys, had them exiled when in reality they were his army.
And when he lost... He made them look like traitors himself, he put his curse inside everyone, inside Venusmon, inside Junomon, inside Plutomon..."
We weren't reading a war, we were reading someone who convinced an entire world to destroy itself for revenge.
TERRIERMON:
"Like a virus."
We continued with the file.
FILE:
"This has always been the story of two worlds, that of humans and that of Digimon, which due to their convergence leads Aegiomon to meet a human girl, and living among humans he learns their kindness and forms a deep bond, but meanwhile Chronomon is already sowing the seeds of chaos, so Aegiomon, having learned his destiny as a great guardian, rises to protect the world until during a battle the girl disappears into nothing and, to save her, awakens the power over time sleeping inside him losing control of it in a tragic chain of events that puts the world on a path to ruin exactly according to Chronomon's machinations. He falls into despair but fortune smiles on him offering another chance, and this time he uses time altruistically changing the tragic fate of the champions of Iliad, so together the 12 warriors awaken their true power as protectors, find the girl again and annihilate Chronomon once and for all, even though even his departure at the hands of the Olympus XII was part of the grand design."
AEGIOMON:
"I will take the place of the keeper of time."
FILE:
"Even knowing what it would entail, he does it anyway because he desires the girl's happiness and wants to give back everything she has lost offering as a price the time spent together, so the gate that connected the two worlds closes once again separating them, and even though his companion is now in a world apart he will continue to watch over her forever, as he had promised."
The file turned off by itself.
TERRIERMON:
"Wait... Am I wrong, or did the egg move?"
I started to reason about what we had heard:
"Wait, Aegiomon says 'I will take the place of the keeper of time' - Aegiomon therefore offers as price the time with the girl, the gate closes, so...
If time has rewound, if all these stories started to correct themselves, it's because he is rewriting them, right now!
It's not the Homeros server glitching, it's him!"
TERRIERMON:
"You mean this loop we're inside... we're inside a correction?
At the beginning the file said that Chronomon's egg was kept in the temple waiting to awaken but... Chronomon is dead, he's sealed!"
ME:
"Exactly!
So this egg in front of us, if it's no longer Chronomon's..."
TERRIERMON:
"So, it would be Aegiomon's?"
Even Terriermon was realizing it.
TERRIERMON:
"And what if we weren't sent here to investigate? What if Jupitermon sent us here because the egg was about to hatch and he needed two witnesses for the new guardian..."
I didn't answer, because behind us the doors of Junomon's temple, which the file said were sealed never to open again, began to make a dull noise, as if something from inside was pushing to get out.
We began to hear something like a heartbeat and with it, the sound of interference, like a glitch.
Terriermon came close to me with a worried look, staring at Aegiomon's egg in front of us.
TERRIERMON:
"Manuel, the egg is... it's..."
ME:
"It's not hatching, Terriermon...
It's correcting us..."
The glitch became more intense.
….
"CORRECTION."
