I (38m) am visiting London for 8 days, starting next Monday. I’m flying in from San Francisco with my family. I don’t just want to do touristy stuff. I want to actually meet locals, mingle, and get to know people. 

Are there any particular areas of London that are more conducive to that? I’ve heard good things about Shoreditch and Hackney, but I’m looking for advice from people who know the area better.

Are there any particular apps or places you’d recommend? For example, I’ve done a few Timeleft dinners and I hear good things about 222. Anything along those lines?

What about pub crawls? I hear there are quite a few of those every night in London and some friends have told me that that would be a good thing to look into.
