So im stuck at what I can do ive removed all the bolts from firewall and fasteners inside but cant seem to get the box loose and im thinking its cause my ac lines does anyone know if I can even get enough room while having the ac lines still connected to get to the heater core? If not do you know if there is mobile mechanic who could do such service of recovering and recharging refrigerant for me?
So I was driving down the road in 90 degree heat when I rolled up my windows and decided to turn on my ac after driving about 20 miles and not even 3 minutes after I did that coolant blew up all over my feet giving me burns on my toes and steam started to pour out of all the air vents when I was turning left inside a busy intersection almost causing me an accident a few times cause I could not see outside the windows this happened near south hill at the intersection in front of it so I had to pull over inside the apple bees parking lot alot of people were curious of what happened and gave me help of course didnt want to get it towed so I sat there for 5 hours debating what I should do so I decided to try and bypass the heater core to try and get it home safely but I did that and was driving not even 5 minutes later I was entering a freeway and my whole engine decided to turn off making me lose power steering so I had to forcefully turn to the side of the road I popped the hood and coolant was all over the engine bay so I had to get a tow truck which my insurance did not cover btw do to my policy being bare minimum(it cost 337 a month due to me being under 25 with less then 1 year of driving experience) so the tow truck costed me about 277 dollars to get it towed 20 miles back to my house
A day later I decided to say heck it im gonna try and replace the heater core myself cause I am not paying a shopping almost 2 grand when I have all the time I can to learn new things even if I risk breaking my truck even more so I ripped the whole dash off got to the hvac housing box and now im stuck cause I dont know if I have to mess with refrigerant or keep the hvac box there and I can work around it cause I really dont want to mess with refrigerant
