Hi everyone, my bf has been talking that he'd want an rc plane for like two years, and his birthday is coming up soon. He's a 3D modeller and said he'd want to make one himself, but he's overworked and I doubt he'd have time for it. Also, I think it's a bad idea to do your own plane, since he has never flown an RC plane before. As far as I know, he couldn't use a simulator to practice if he made his own plane. So here's the deal I have found a beginner RC plane in my budget, but I've been advised that if you have never flown an RC plane, you should use a simulator before to not crash and break it. I think there are free simulators, not only paid ones. So how does it work? I want a plane, which I have found, and what do I need for the simulator? I'll have the remote controller, then the free software. How do I connect the controller to the pc? Does it have a usb with it? The plane would be Duet S 2 0.5m RTF. Am I missing something?

I know this isn't an animation sub, but I work in the game industry, and people have varied opinions about it so I was interested in the broader community opinion. So I know an industry specialist, a really talented guy who worked and works on major projects and is afraid that AI will replace animators unless they are somehow better than the majority. His take is that AI can already transfer data from a video to a rig, it doesn't look good now but probably will look good in the future. But imo mocap data always existed, maybe how mocap will be captured will change, but why would it replace animators? You still need ideas for the shot, cool poses, and push the timing. So what do you guys think, do you work in a company that does animations heavily with ai? Does it look any good?
