I (15M) had recently been told by my friend (15F) that our friendship of a year is over after I patted her shoulder during a rehearsal (We are both in theatre at our school and I am in actor while she is not) I went over to her during our break and just gave a light pat on the shoulder.
I didn't think much of it until now, when she brought it up. She said it gave her the ick and she felt unsafe (I would like to add I am someone who doesn't raise their voice nor do anything aggressive or scary toward people as well as the fact I am mindful of others' space)
I was pretty surprised but accepted it even though she said we wouldn't be friends ever again. I was just pretty confused. I mentioned it vaguely to my Councillor, but she stayed neutral.
I talked to my sister (24F) about it, and she thought my friend overreacted and I 'dodged a bullet'.
I've already moved on even though it's only been a day since it happened by the time I post this. I just wanna know if I was in the wrong to give my friend a shoulder pat?
