FT-710 and FLDigi

I’ve had mostly bad luck with fldigi. I got PSK working (not that many people use PSK), so at some point I’m able to follow directions, and along those lines, my radio can connect to FLDigi.

I’ve been exceedingly unsuccessful at anything CW related though. I can get FLDigi to decode incoming CW signals. I have absolutely zero luck in getting my radio to transmit any CW. I’ve tried my radio in CW-U, CW-L, DATA-L. I’ve played around with every possible FLDigi setting(Modem - CW - DTS-RTR, CAT keying), Rig Control flrig, CAT, Hamlib, Hardware PTT, etc. I’ve played around with tons of the FT-710 Radio and CW settings. At best in DATA or CW mode, all I can manage to do is to get my laptop to key the mic and broadcast a solid tone while FLDigi appears to be sending CW letters.

Oddly after playing around with PSK (FT-710 in PSK mode), I accidentally had FLDigi in OpMode - CW and accidentally clicked the Call CQ macro. To my surprise, it broadcast actual CW signals.

What am I doing? Can someone please explain how to properly connect my FT-710 to FLDigi in order to use my laptop to send and receive CW?
Thank you!

Return rejected?

I attempted to return a Kakwa due to hip belt size. I followed Durston’s instructions including how to fill out the customs form. My backpack just got returned to me because of a customs problem.

Anyone have this happen? My local post office said it’s probably because I claimed a value of $1 for returned merchandise, just like Durston said.

FLDigi Rig Control

In my quest to unravel the mysteries of FLDigi, I’m going to ask a more specific question. In the Configuration menu under Rig Control, there are several options including
- FLrig
- CAT (rigcat)
- Hamlib
And others.

Are these all mutually exclusive settings? In other words, if I set up flrig, does that disable the other options? Or are these all things that individually need to be set up in order to get fldigi to run my radio?

Along those lines, what are the advantages/disadvantages of using those 3 sources I mentioned?
Thanks

CW Software for Yaesu FT-710

Background: I’m stupid, but I can consistently get my FT-710 to work on wstj-x, VARA, JS8 Call, HF Winlink. So I know enough to do those things.

My problem is that I have zero luck with N1MM or FLDigi. I’ve seen so many different videos that tell me to use FLDigi with FLrig, use FLDigi independent of FLrig, enable Hamlib, not ever to use Hamlib, use DTR, never use DTR and use RTS, select DATA-U for all bands and functions including CW, some people say stay in CW-L for 40m and CW-U for other bands, etc. The bottom line is that at this point I’m pretty sure my radio settings and computer settings are pretty messed up.

Anyone with an FT-710 either able to help get me up and running on any software program that will let me do CW? For the record I don’t know Morse code and I don’t have a key. I’m strictly laptop based.

Thank you!

Hip size opinion

Large is 95% cinched down but feels good and has easy access to hip belt.

Medium fits well, but hip belt harder to access.

I’ve had some major abdominal surgery and like a little extra padding over some of my scars, but fear that the large is just a bit too large.

Opinions?

What cable is this?

I have a Yaesu FTM500 and I found this 10 pin to 3.5mm cable but trying to figure out what it’s used for.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Question: Windows Drivers / Sound / Microphone settings with 2 radios

I’m a Windows moron… I’d say explain this like I’m 5 years old, but the fact is 5 year olds know more than me when it comes to Windows and their famous drivers.

I’m working on an old Dell Wyse 5470 laptop running windows 10. I have a Yaesu FT-710 that is currently up and working with WSTJ-X, Winlink/Vara HF, VaraC, JS8Call. Not as much luck using FLDigi but my guess is that’s another issue (maybe?).

I also have a Yaesu FTM-300 along with digirig. I’m trying to get that also hooked up to the same laptop in order to use Vara FM Winlink.

I remember having great difficulty with sound and microphone settings and it seems that I’m having the same problems with the VHF / FM side.

Before I jump down too many rabbit holes, is it even possible to have a single laptop manage 2 radios without having to reconfigure drivers, ports, sounds, etc?

Thank you!

Fibrosis 4 months post op

4 months post LDLT. Team discontinued cellcept last month due to side effects. LFTs tested every week and remained normal until this past Monday when I was readmitted due to elevated LFTs (AST 100, ALT & Alk Phos 200, Bilirubin 1.2). No other symptoms.

I restarted cellcept 4 days ago. AST dropped to 56 but other numbers still the same.

Ultrasound was normal. Biopsy showed no acute rejection, no cholestatic or bile duct disease, no fatty liver, but mild portal fibrosis.

Medical history:
- transplanted for PSC
- acute rejection month 1, treated with steroids and LFTs normal
- infection/abcess treated month 1-2. LFTs remained normal.
- discontinued cellcept a month ago due to neutropenia and mouth ulcers.
- last month had tacro level fluctuations and changed dose due to floconazole RX. Returned to normal baseline tacro about a week ago.

Anyone have anything similar? For
Those with PSC, is this how your rPSC showed up?

Yes I asked my team and they don’t have a solid answer.
