AITAH for asking a TSA officer to hurry up?

Jfk airport. I arrived 2 hours before departure counting parking and check in. The line to security was HUGE, it took an hour, so by the time i put my bag on the belt, boarding had already started and i was pretty stressed. They passed my bag through the more thorough section where they open it up and inspect the items.

The worker took my bag and instead of proceeding to check it was chit-chatting to his coworker. I didn't hear exactly what they were saying and whether it was work related, but they were laughing so i assumed they were joking about something. I tried to say as politely as possible: "i'm sorry, my flight is leaving in 20 min, can you please hurry up?" Now i would never say that WHILE he was checking the bag, but he was talking, and i wanted to convey that i would appreciate it if he didn't get distracted during the check. He replied "woah woah woah, you need to relax, you do not tell a TSO they need to hurry, i am doing my job", to which i stayed quiet.

Did i have the right to ask him that? Should i have perhaps phrased it differently? Or said nothing at all?

Was I too rude?

Jfk airport. I arrived 2 hours in advance but the line was HUGE so by the time i got to security check my boarding had already started and i was really stressed. They sent my bag to the more thorough check where they open it up and inspect the items.

The worker took my bag (it was the only one there) and instead of proceeding to open it was chit-chatting to his coworker. I tried to tell him as politely as possible: "Sorry, my flight is leaving in 15 min, can you please hurry up?" Now i would never say that to him WHILE he was checking the bag, but he was talking and i had no idea how much time that would take. He replied that i need to relax and i can't tell him how to do his job, to which i stayed quiet.

I need opinions, did I have the right to ask him that? Is there a more polite way to phrase it? Or was he in the wrong?
