Rn positions

My family and I are thinking about moving from South Florida to the Katy/Cypress area, and I’m a newer RN with about 6 months of PCU/tele experience. I’m a little nervous about starting over and was wondering how difficult it is to get hired as an RN. Is the job market pretty good? What’s kind of pay can I expect with my experience? What hospitals are nearby? I’d love to hear from anyone who has made a similar move or currently works in the area. Thanks!

Hello Everyone, I am a future Katy Resident & I just want to know how bad are the property taxes? Im from FL & I have been hearing that in TX they sneak up on you and are very high. Does anyone mind sharing their experiences and how much do they go up after the next year of purchasing. Thank you!

Schools

Hello Everyone I am new to Katy and live in the NE area and zoned to the following schools McElwain Elementary, Nelson Junior High, and Freeman High School. I would love to hear honest feedback from parents with children in these schools. How are the academics, teachers, student support, extracurricular activities, and overall school culture? Have your children had a positive experience there? Any pros, cons, or things you wish you knew before enrolling? Thanks in advance!

New to Katy

Hi everyone! My family and I are planning a move to the NE part of Katy. We have a 9-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter, and we’re excited to get involved in the community.

I’m looking for recommendations for:

  • Pediatricians
  • Dentists (for adults and kids)
  • Sports programs/leagues for my 9-year-old (football, basketball, baseball, soccer, etc.)
  • A good gym with a sauna
  • Churches with a strong family and children’s ministry
  • Local mom/family groups or community groups to join

Also, for those who live in the NE Katy area, what are some things a newcomer should know about the area? Any favorite parks, family activities, restaurants, events, hidden gems, or things you wish you knew when you first moved here?

We’re a family of four, and I’m looking forward to making connections and helping my kids get involved.
